Description from owner

Description

Situated in the beautiful countryside of the North York Moors National Park is 'Hillsover,' a stone built 18th century cottage. Formerly two properties, a sympathetic and extensive reurbishment has been carried out to provide a traditional country cottage with character. Sleeps seven in four well presented bedrooms. There are three bathrooms and the property has been designed to meet the needs of the discerning guest. In the sitting room there is also the option of a sofa bed for the unexpected guest or additional party member. There is a ground floor shower room and toilet. The relaxing sitting room has a large open fire with beamed ceiling, two sofas and comfortable seating. There are great views across the village green and beyond to Danby Dale and Castleton Rigg. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and there is central heating throughout. All bed linen and hand towels will be provided for your arrival. Outside there is a patio with seating and compact garden. Here you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air or watch the sunset and relax after a day cycling, exploring the moors or great beaches and villages along the coast. Next door is The Fox and Hounds Inn, a Visit England four star recommended high quality residential country pub and restaurant. Open all year round and serving great food, selected wines and cask ales. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are available at the pub so no need to cook! Local attractions include the North York Moors Railway, Castle Howard, Eden Camp, Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo, Goathland - where TV series Heartbeat was based, Danby Moors Centre and of course, the glorious heather moors and local beaches. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement only (maximum two dogs) and an additional charge will be payable. Free high speed Wifi available.

“Great location”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2018

Lovely cottage, with superb views. Very clean and in very good decorative order,it is well equipped too. One very small improvement - I would suggest that the 2 bathrooms where showers are fitted that they are raised so you can stand under them, that said there is a full shower on the ground floor.
