The Turkish Aegean Coast region

Dalyan is a lovely small riverside town located on the Turquoise coast in southern Turkey. It has an enticing mix of breathtaking views, fantastic weather, warm friendly hospitality, plentiful restaurants, charming bars and places to shop.

Dalyan is well known thanks to its proximity to the famous 7km Iztuzu Beach where the endangered Loggerhead Turtles (Caretta Caretta) lay their eggs, the beach and surrounding area is protected. The beach can be reached by minibus or by a relaxing boat ride on the Dalyan Canal and on through the read beds. As well as Loggerhead Turtles Dalyan is also home to the largest population of the Soft Shelled Nile Turtles (Trionyx triunguis). The wet land areas are home to many migrating birds and storks nest all over the area.

Steeped in history Dalyan is overlooked by ancient Lycian Rock Tombs which are the last resting places of the Kings of Kaunos, meanwhile the Dalyan Canal weaves its way past the village on its way from Köycegiz Lake to the beach.

Across the canal are the ruins of the city of Kaunos, with a Roman theatre, fortifications, basilica and many other sites to be seen. Dalyan itself has strict building regulations which allow us to keep the traditional feeling in the village, traditionally a fishing village the village has a warm welcome to visitors.

The Saturday Market is a joy to shop at, from the best quality fake designer wear to fresh vegetables and of course a plentiful collection of local spices and teas; as a working market you will shop alongside tourists and locals alike.

Also with Mud Baths, Turkish baths, Thermal Springs, an Historic Mosque and Scenic Walks Dalyan has it all for the perfect relaxing holiday. Nearby you can also find Tlos, an ancient Roman site with Lycian rock caves; Saklikent Gorge, a natural marvel to walk through; the beautiful bays of Asi and Ekincik bay, perfect for snorkelling.

Dalyan is also just over an hours drive from Marmaris or Fethiye with the glorious Öludeniz just outside Fethiye. You can take a boat tour from Göcek around the 12 islands, or just walk around the marina and marvel at the yachts.

"Simply stunning"

We have booked Villa Arici two years running. That says it all really. For those who worry about booking a villa privately, fear not. Diana, the owner, has great communication with you from the off and ensures that everything is in place perfectly for your arrival. From transfer to and from the airport to a fully stocked fridge and cupboards. Diana and Marco are fantastic cooks and provide wonderful meals as often as your heart desires. They are always at hand throughout your stay providing top class service. The villa is perfectly situated. Whilst being secluded ( nobody overlooks you) it is only about a 15 minute walk into Dalyan town which offers restaraunts, supermarkets, pharmacist and great strolls along the river. You can have as busy or as lazy a holiday as you wish. Diana and Marco will put everything in place to ensure you have exactly the sort of holiday you need. We are once again completely thrilled with our holiday at Villa Arici. Thanks very much to Diana and Marco x

Thank you so much for your lovely words. We hope to see you again very soon

"Villa Arici..... Heaven on earth"

After seeing the stunning photographs of this villa online in its beautiful surroundings, we booked our holiday hoping that it would live up to expectations. Very happy to say that it exceeded our high expectations. The owners, Diana and Marco were there to greet us on arrival with a beautiful meal waiting for us. The villa was immaculate in a location so secluded and beautiful. We had the amazingly relaxing holiday that we longed for. Marco and Diana cooked for us every night as the meals were so wonderful. In fact, they did everything for us throughout our stay. We were treated like royalty! We are booking to stay there again next year and it will be like returning to see our friends again. Five stars just aren't enough to truly rate our experience at Villa Arici.

Marco and I are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday in our villa so much. We are looking forward to seeing you again next year.

"Fantastic family Villa with great owners."

We are two families with 5 teenage children between us and have just returned from a two week trip to Villa Arici. What a great holiday. Firstly the owners, Diana and Marco are fantastic hosts. They enabled our holiday to flow, by being always available and very helpful. Marco's cooking is to be highly recommended , probably the best meals of our holiday and Diana's shopping service makes the stresses of first day arrival melt away. The villa is very clean and well equipped, everything worked and there was more than enough to occupy the teenagers. It is about a 12 minute walk into Dalyan, which suited us perfectly as we were just far enough away not to disturb neighbours, when the kids were midnight swimming in the pool. However, you could be at the first general store in 3 mins with the bike ( handy for fresh goods for breakfast) we used the cleaning service twice which meant no grumpy teenagers ( or parents!) constantly being chased to tidy up. Things to do include a visit to the mud baths and sulphur baths, trip out to sea, turtle watching and cave swimming, walk upto Kaunos after being rowed over the river by an older lady!, Saturday market, go early, you have more time and attention from the stallholders to bargain, and lots of chilling out at the Villa.

Marco and I are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday at our villa so much. We hope to see you again sometime very soon.

"Beautiful Villa and stunning location."

Had a super time at Villa Arici. We ordered a turkish meal for the night of our arrival and it was wonderful and such a delightful start to our holiday, cooked by Marco. The villa was spotless and had everything you could wish for. Diana always on hand to help us have a very enjoyable holiday with tips and ideas. The fresh eggs from the chickens that Marco and Diana tend to daily were wonderful and made a great breakfast every morning. If you got up early in the morning, mountain goats that live on the rock behind the villa can be watched as they make their way down. Amazing to watch from the terrace with an early morning coffee in hand. The 12 Island Tour was the highlight of my holiday, we booked a private gulet, WOW! The boat tours , mudbaths and hot springs and beach were fab too. Saturday is market day and a great place to buy all your fresh salad and veg. We bought some seabass from the fish shop and had a wonderful fish BBQ at the villa , watching the sun go down. Diana, Marco and Chocolate the dog are at the villa 3-4 hours a day ,mainly in the afternoon till dark, gardening and putting the chickens to bed, and are happy to give ideas on trips and days out. Our family had a magical and wonderful time in Dalyan.

Thank you very much for your very kind words and we hope to see you all again sometime soon.

"A week was not long enough!"

We are a group of 5 adults and 2 teenage boys, who enjoyed a fabulous week in the beautiful and spacious villa Arici. From the initial contact with Diana, we received friendly, efficient service, nothing was too much trouble. The shopping delivery service and delightful meal provided by Marco & Diana on our midnight arrival were fantastic. The boys had a brilliant time either in the pool or playing pool, the tv was never switched on, not even for sport, a first. The location of the villa is perfect, within walking distance of mini supermarkets and numerous restaurants but away from any noise. We hope to return very soon.

Marco and I are so pleased you had such a fantastic holiday and are looking forward to seeing you again later in the year. Thank you for all your kind words. Diana

"This has been one of our best family holidays - perfect villa & location."

Villa Arici more than lived up to our expectations, set in a lovely private location with beautiful mountain views - enjoy watching the layers of mountains unfold in the changing light- yet only a 10- 20 minute walk into town. It's an easy flat walk to the first restaurant, then you walk past more every few steps, until you reach the far end of town. Similarly the riverside restaurants begin on the river walk after 10 mins, with more all the way to the end of town. We had some excellent meals at the start, middle & end of the river & town. Apart from lazy poolside days, we enjoyed Kaunos tours 12 island boat trip - max 12 people on board- with a delicious lunch provided too. Our private hire boat was a fantastic day on the river, with our captain arranging stops when the crowds weren't there - perfect! -plus another great lunch. (Marco can arrange this or you can negotiate yourselves riverside.) On this trip we saw turtles, visited the caves (I'd advise checking the tide before this stop however as you can't swim through at low tide - you'd cut yourself on the rocks or hit sea urchins), the beach, Kaunos ruins & the mud/thermal baths with opportunities to swim on both trips. The Turkish people were really friendly & welcoming. Be sure to eat at the villa, experiencing Marco's cooking. We ate well in town but all agree that Marco's meals were the best (& SO reasonably priced - incredible value). I requested meze starters & prepared dishes to heat up on our arrival & I'm so glad I did. After a day travelling it was wonderful to chill at the villa. We ordered the 25TL a head meal with surprise dishes in our second week - delicious. The bikes were perfect for shopping trips but a fantastic shopping service is provided by Diana who went out of her way to get the extra requests I made for a tiny charge; what a difference it made to the start of our holiday. She also arranged our transfers from & back to the airport. - We're glad we didn't arrange car hire. We were met at the villa by Diana & Marco & shown round by Diana while Marco finished off dinner before leaving us to enjoy it. Diana & Marco are warm, caring hosts on hand to answer any questions should you need them.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday so much and thank you from us both for your kind words. We hope to see you again sometime soon

"Private, spectacular villa and stunning scenery."

We have just returned from a ten day stay at Villa Arici and have had the best family holiday! The villa was well presented, very clean, wonderfully spacious for 4 adults and six young children (as well as daily visiting grandparents!) and set in the most wonderful part of Dalyan. The villa, with its own swimming pool (which was the highlight for the kids), is surrounded by beautiful mountains, filled with roaming mountain goats, which are great to watch. The terrace and patios were a real feature and we all enjoyed eating and drinking surrounded by the great scenery. Dalyan is a fantasitc place to visit, particulary with young children. It is very safe and the Turkich people are very friendly and helpful. There was lots to do within the area. The kids loved Turtle Beach, which was so quiet at this time of year. They also loved the boat rides on the river, eating lots of pancakes and Pides, taking in all the array of wildlife, and probably had their best day out at Kunos. Diana and Marco are fantastic hosts. They are always on hand to offer help and advice, and visit regualrly, bearing fresh free range eggs form their resident chickens which are great for breakfast! I fully recommend Diana and Marco's cooking. We indulged three times and had the best food during the holiday. From the meze to the casseroles, and even kebabs on the BBQ - all delicious and much appreciated by all. We had an amazing time, and I can understand why people return year after year to Dalyan (only 30 minutes form the airport which is a bonus). We will definiitly be back!

So pleased you had such a fantastic holiday and thank you very much for all your kind words about the Villa, Marco and I. We hope to see you again very soon.

"First Class"

We rented Villa Arici with another family of friends. We found the villa on the internet and were taken by the photos and description. We were not disappointed! The villa is much better than the photos show and it is more like sharing someones home than renting a holiday property. From the first contact Diana was very helpful and arranged transfers for us all and offered helpful advice as well as being there to welcome us on arrival with some essentials, as we arrived in the middle of the night! During our stay Diana and Marco were available to help as needed and provide fresh produce from their garden. The villa is spacious, immaculately decorated and clean. All the rooms were nicely furnished with everything you need available. The kitchen area is fantastic, with every possible kitchen gadget and tool to hand, should you want a night off from Dalyan's excellent restaurants and there is a barbeque outside for al fresco meals. Outside, the pool is a good size, there were 8 of us and we never felt cramped and the surrounding patio area is more than large enough for sunbeds etc. Again the pool is spotlessly clean and Marco and Diana were round to clean and treat it every day. The location of the villa was perfect for us. It is secluded and far enough away from other villas to feel private and quiet, but only 10 - 15 minutes stroll from the centre of Dalyan. The nearest shop is only about 5 minutes away and if you feel like it, two mountain bikes are available. The view and scenery are also amazing, especially the large rocky hill behind the villa, which is home to a herd of goats, that seem to appear and disappear throughout the day. Dalyan is a smaller, low key destination, but has everything you need, in a compact area. There are plenty or restaurants offering a good selection of food and we found all to be good quality and value. There are a number with riverside tables where you can watch the sunsets The people in Dalyan were also very friendly and helpful, not at all pushy. There are also plenty of bars but the nightlife is low key, so would not suit people looking for clubs. So to sum up, Dalyan is a great place for a relaxing get away and Villa Arici is the perfect place to enjoy it from. Thanks to Diana and Marco for letting us borrow your home! The only disappointment was that we were only there for a week!

Hi Chris Thank you very much for your kind words and great review Diana
