Deer can often be seen in The Park ( The name of the field in front of The Wagon House). The RSPB did a bird survey and 32 species of birds were counted with a number of 'red list species' these are birds that have declined in the last 25 years by half.

It is less than 2 miles to Hemyock which has a fantastic pub with an excellent dining area ,there is also a post office and Spar and three hard tennis courts.

Horse riding and course fishing are offered locally. There are a number of national trust properties around Killerton and Knightshayes to name just two,

Historic Taunton is about 11 miles away where the magnificent Castle and museum sit, well worth a visit, with the county cricket ground the other side of the town.

West Somerset railway between Bishops Lydeard ( near Taunton ) and Minehead offers 20 miles of steam train travel through the Quantock hills and along the Exmoor coast

Exeter slightly further afield with it's stunning cathedral, underground Roman passages, Guild hall and museum are all a must there, check out Parliament street ( narrowest street in England )made famous by Dickens who used to live in Exeter, also you can hire saddles and paddles, 'bike and canoe hire' and cycle along or paddle in the river Exe

.

The cottage’s position on the Blackdown Hills, near the Devon/Somerset border, offers easy access to the South Devon beaches Seaton , Branscombe, Sidmouth and Lyme Regis, with excellent mackeral fishing at Beer. Or to the North is Exmoor and North Devon coast, Lynton and Lynmouth, Saunton sands to name just a few jewels of North Devon

The barn conversion was completed recently and we have just started to rent to guests.

The England region

Great central location for walking, cycling, beaches, canoeing. Easy to get to the historic market town of Taunton with it's magnificent castle and museum. Exeter the city capital of Devon is in the opposite direction with cathedral, underground Roman tunnels plus many more attractions.

Honiton is famous for it's lace and antique shops and also local.

Cullompton

Clayhidon is a small village with two pubs on the Blackdown Hills and has been awarded an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ( AONB ) With it's numerous footpaths it is a walkers dream.

Clayhidon neighbours Hemyock which has another fine pub ( probably best in the area with it's real ales and fine food ) Post office, Spar shop, Hairdressers and tennis courts.
