The Moray region
The Royal Burgh of Cullen is a charming historic fishing village located overlooking Cullen Bay on the Moray Firth coastline in the northeast of Scotland. This picturesque village is divided into two sections including Seatown in the lower section, which features many colourful and quaint traditional fishing cottages, and the upper section where most of the village amenities are located including an array of shops and cafes. Cullen is the home of the culinary delight "Cullen Skink" which is a well-known traditional soup made from smoked haddock, potatoes, onions and milk. As well, the Ice Cream Shop in Cullen is famous for its quality ice cream and its wide array of jarred sweets and is a favourite of both locals and visitors to Cullen.
Cullen has a fabulous sandy beach which has been recognized previously by the EU as being of the highest standard in Europe and is home to the much photographed rock strata of The Three Kings. The Cullen Golf Club is located along the beach and provides what has been described as a challenging little cliff top and beach level links course like no other for its quirkiness but still suitable for golfers of all skill levels. There are three majestic Railway Viaducts in Cullen dating from 1886 which act to define the village and have also been the subject of many photographers. They are no longer in use but are now a popular walking and cycling route along which you might be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or even a minke whale in the Bay!
Cullen is a suitable destination for old and young alike. Water sports, nature watching, golf, cycling, walking or just browsing through the shops - there is something for everyone.
The Banffshire Coast is home to a diversity of wildlife and beautiful rugged landscapes and has a relatively mild climate. The area is rich with history and heritage based on fishing and agriculture which provides the foundation for many excellent visitor attractions and festivals celebrating the traditions of the area. Cullen provides a terrific base for attractions such as the Malt Whiskey Trail and the Castle Trail which are only a short drive away.

"A fantastic place to be."
Wow! The most fantastic place you want to spend your holiday and wish it would never end. Everything from the friendly welcome and food package to the amazing spaces in the house and beautiful wall art and ornaments made our stay one of the best ever. We walked and cycled all over and we were all very sad to leave. Thank you for all that was done to make it all so lovely.
Thank you so much for your kind comments regarding your visit to Cullen and also the cottage itself. It's not a traditional cottage at all despite outside appearances. The layout is unique and the cottage is spacious and comfortable and it appears our guests agree. We look forward to your next visit! Selma & Rob

"A perfect cottage with a warm welcome in an excellent location."
Upon arrival in Cullen we experienced a very warm welcome by our hosts Selma and Rob. The house is extremely well equipped in every respect. Everything was supplied. It is very spacious and bright with large windows. The modern kitchen makes cooking a pleasure. The dining room offers nice views of the garden, the viaduct and the sea. The living room is the perfect place to relax after a day out. So is the lovely garden - although we hadn't had the weather to enjoy evenings out. The bedrooms are lovely decorated. They offer plenty of storage. The modern bathroom is at least 5-star. Cullen is a lovely village with a small harbour, a beach, several shops, cafes and a well stocked Coop. The coastpath to Portknockie and Portsoy offers great views. Nearby Sandend is probably the best beach in the whole area. We have been surfing every single day. Cullen makes a good base for trips to Elgin, Leith Hall, Fyvie Castle and many other places.
Thanks so much for your great review of Camrose Holiday Cottage. We are pleased you enjoyed the house and had the opportunity to explore the area and also get in lots of surfing while you were here. We hope to see you again in the future! Selma & Rob

"Outstanding cottage in one of the beatiful areas of Scotland"
We are regular visitors to this area and have stayed in many, many cottages over the past years but without hesitation I have to say Camrose is by far the best! From the welcome basket of food to the toiletries in the bathroom, everything was outstanding. The cottage is a home from home. The kitchen is contains everything you require to make a coffee (with loads of mugs unlike other cottages) all the way through to a 4 course dinner. The living room is comfortable to sit inside and watch TV, read a book or play a game should you not be able to go out and enjoy the enclosed child friendly garden or use the well-equipped BBQ. The bedrooms are lovely with loads of spare towels (not just one per person unlike some other places) which is extremely import with kids coming back from the beach every day. Cullen is just one of many attractive villages and beaches that need to be explored. Do not go home without visiting Sandend Beach or walking the coastal path to Portknockie. If the weather is good you don’t need to go far from Cullen. Good golf courses are close at hand. Mountain biking can be found at Moray Monster Trails in Fochabers. The Aquarium at Macduff is a good low cost trip for the kids as well as the outdoor play area at Christies Garden Centre in Fochabers. The owner made us most welcome and we will return.
Thank you so much for your review of Camrose which illustrates perfectly what a great spot Cullen is for a family holiday. We've done our best to make Camrose a comfortable and pleasant home away from home. We look forward to your next visit. Selma & Rob

We cannot thank the hosts of Camrose cottage enough for the amazing stay we had in Cullen. We decided to book this house over bed and breakfast/hotels in the area and it was the best decision we ever made. Clean, modern yet charming and warm, spacious, and with everything you could possibly need to feel at home away from home. The local Cullen shops, beautiful coast, and extremely friendly locals were an added plus. We can't wait to return next summer and when we do we hope to stay once again at the cottage. Thank you again for a most pleasant visit.
Thank you so very much for the fabulous first review. We have worked hard to make Camrose a comfortable and pleasant home away from home. We look forward to your next visit! Selma & Rob
