Stay and experience the easy-going, friendly, Donegal way of living. Down a long private drive on our own farm with natural bog-land and a river.

National Geographic named Donegal #1 place on the planet to visit - ahead of Peru #5, Canada #7, India #9, South Africa #10, New Zealand #11. And they gave Inishowen peninsula the title “the jewel in the Donegal Crown ...a beautiful area ..still feels undiscovered ..squeezes the 1,600-mile Wild Atlantic Way into a 4.5-mile nutshell”

The house itself is cosy, clean and well cared-for and last summer guest rooms were refurbished. It's centrally heated by radiators and also has a fire-place in the living-room.

The living-room is relaxing with plenty of seating (sofa, rocking chair). The kitchen is modest with a dining table for 4-5 and plenty of crockery.

The utility room leads to the back door and is kitted out for preparing meals. There is a gas hob, an electric oven and a large microwave. There are plenty of pots, pans and oven dishes.

We have an under-counter fridge and a washing machine.

Your bedrooms are both downstairs. The first has a giant double bed and is at the front of the house. Your second bedroom has a double & a single - handy when there are extra kids along.

Extra fold-out beds are on upstairs landing, easy to set up in living room.

There are plenty of bedspreads, sheets, pillows and throws.

Note: It is a 4 bedroom house but we list it as 2 bedroom because the upstairs rooms are not decorated to guest standard - we keep these for when family are staying.

The house has been our family home, and has generations of mementos (old pictures of the great-grandparents, paintings, nick-nacks ...right down to our raincoats and hats!!) dotted here and there ...so the place has a real lived-in feel. We welcome you to immerse yourself in history and atmosphere ...but if you are mostly drawn to minimalist holiday rentals this might not be to your liking.

We spend a lot of time here in the summer, so can offer a hosted B&B experience if you are just passing through. If you prefer, you can opt to have the entire place to yourself it's no problem - just specify when you enquire. During winter months (when we're not staying here) our neighbour puts the heat on a day before you arrive so it's nice and toasty for arrival.

The house is cozy and a great place to spend a winter weekend enjoying life's simple pleasures with friends. Or in spring & autumn around the fire-pit outside after dark.

The area is a walker's paradise. Boreens or hill walks are plentiful and in winter you've a good chance of catching the Aura Borealis from the coast. There are local websites which indicate the best times to see it.

Ronan has built a wood burning pizza oven out the front! It makes the most amazing pizzas in 3 minutes flat! ....after you've light the fire and has it heating 4 hours in advance :)

Getting around

Culdaff is a sleepy village with a water pump in the village green, Malin Town won the Tidy Towns Competition and Gleneely village is the nearest but just has 2 pubs: sadly the village store closed recently. Greencastle is an active fishing port that has a little seafood restaurant. The Shrove lighthouse is worth the trip and has a little beach that is postcard perfect. Carndonagh is best for food shopping. It has a big, well-stocked Supervalu with everything you need including a butchers and fishmongers in-store. Lidl is in Buncrana. Take a trip to Doagh Isle Famine Village, Trawbrega Bay, fishing in Bonagee or Malin Heand and Ballyliffin if you love golf.

Interaction with guest

Depending on which hosting option you prefer we either leave you to enjoy the house all to yourselves ....or are there to welcome you and cook breakfast (mostly in summer months). When we are not in residence our neighbour will give you the key and turn on the heat a couple days before you arrive.

We're pretty reasonable individuals, but prefer no pets or smoking inside. Please separate waste into the recycling container provided. Organic waste goes in the second one. On check out please bring both with you and drop off in Carndonagh or Moville where there is a recycling centre open until 4pm each day.
