Description from owner

Description

The historical property of Casona La Sierra was a pioneer industrial enterprise 100 years ago -including a sawmill, a mill, and a lime kiln. Nowadays, it is an innovating tourist project, environmentally friendly and focusing in nature activities. Our property has been fully restored in 2011 and offers beautiful modern apartments in our colonial-style house and two Rural Lofts in the old barn within the same land property 2 acres big.
We are 15 minutes far from Asturias International Airport (OVD) and 5 minutes from the highway: a central location to visit the North cost of Spain. The coastal route of St. Jame's Way is just in front of our house.
There are beautiful sandy beaches -good for waves sports or just relaxing- in a 3-mile ratio and 2 of the most beautiful beaches in Spain -Silent beach and Barayo beach within a short drive.
From the house door you have paths to the forest, hills and the sea. They are very good for hiking or mountain-bikers.

The local gastronomy is one of the best in Spain; there are very good restaurants nearby.

We will be more than happy to offer you our advice about local attractions or restaurants and provide a free local guide at arrival.

Location description from owner

The Asturias region

Asturias is right in the centre of the North Spanish Coast. It's very mountainous and green, full of meadows and forest (almost 50% of the land). You will find high mountains at Picos de Europa National Park, beautiful sandy beaches, and great estuaries.
Asturias' coast is the place for charming fishermen villages, colonial palaces and the interesting cultural heritage of pre-roman style.
Our gastronomy is one of the best in Spain thanks to its fresh fish, seafood and meat.
The quality is very high -not only the sophisticated ones but also the popular "sidrerias" (ciderbars).
The climate on the coast line is Atlantic with mild summer and winter. Spring and autumn are really beautiful too.
From Asturias the Christians started the reconquest of the Muslim Spain at the 8 century with the foundation of the Asturian Kingdom.
The Asturian art from that time is very interesting and unique in Europe due to the isolation of the kingdom there are some pre-roman masterpieces around Oviedo.
Chillida's masterpiece at beautiful Gijón and Niemeyer building at lively Avilés deserve a visit.

Cudillero

Cudillero is a charming fishermen village with colorful picturesque houses and steep narrow streets overlooking the port.
Our property is located in the nearby village of San Martín de Luiña -just a 10 minute drive from Cudillero village. It's a well preserved small village with some beautiful colonial-style houses and weekly street market.
Nature activities, sight-seeing and gastronomy are the main attractions.
Hiking, mountain bike, cycling, surfing or horse riding are good alternatives for active tourism.
Any time of the year, you can have a nice walk on our sandy beaches or coastal paths and enjoy the dramatic views of the Cantabric sea.
Not to be missed: the dramatic Vidio Cape cliffs, the colonial palaces at Somao, the romantic palace and the gardens of Selgas Foundation in Cudillero, and Cudillero and Luarca fishermen villages.
Local restaurants are very good and inexpensive.
