Location description from owner

The Wales region

The Brecon Beacons National Park lies on the border between Mid Wales and South Wales. It's home to waterfalls, forests, market towns and the highest peak in southern Britain.

With mountains and moorland, standing stones and castles, lively waterfalls and vibrant communities, the Brecon Beacons National Park has masses to our visitors. We have a long and colourful history and a rich and varied mythology and culture.

You can go ... walking, climbing, hiking, fishing, canoeing, horse-riding, sailing, cycling and so much more.

Our Park has some of the highest quality dark skies in the whole of the UK, making it the perfect destination for stargazers. There are loads of Events to enjoy stargazing - our entire National Park is an International Dark Sky Reserve. In 2012, we became just the fifth destination in the world (and the first in Wales) to be accredited.

Crickhowell

Crickhowell is a small but beautiful town. There are lots of lovely places to eat or drink and some fantastic shops, all privately owned - no chains here, everything you need in life can be bought in Crickhowell.

The house backs on to a medieval castle ruin and there is a small children's play area in the grounds. There is a library in the town and many amazing walks or cycle routes on the doorstep and you can travel by foot, or hire bikes (which can be delivered to your door) or hire a canal boat and travel all the way along the canal to Brecon in one direction or Newport in the other.

House rules

Pets are allowed but under a strict policy. We made a small charge towards the additional cleaning. We have wooden floors throughout the property and often have people stay with allergies, so a very thorough clean is undertaken after we have had pets staying.

“A lovely stylish flat in a beautiful village”

Reviewed 6 May 2015

I'm so pleased that be booked this flat for a short weekend break! It is really beautifully decorated and couldn't be in a better location for the shops and great pubs in the village and some pretty walks nearby. We had a little welcome pack of yummy welsh-cakes, butter, milk etc. a lovely touch which was very welcome after our trip from cornwall. Our little jack russell approved too! Thank you Beth and Natasha!

“A stunning studio apartment of high quality design, facilities and comfort”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2015

Mortimer House is in the very heart of Crickhowell, ideal for the Brecon Beacons visitor. The apartment is great for a couple wanting a lovely retreat in comfort and style. The view of the hills was ideal, a wonderful sight to wake up to. All was spotless, of excellent taste and well maintained. Practical details attended to, comprehensive facilities. Would definitely stay again. Top quality.

“Superb Loft Apartment”

Reviewed 12 Mar 2015

Fabulous loft apartment in the centre of Crickhowell, very well situated in the centre of Crickhowell, a quaint market town, close to the Brecon Beacons and ideal for walkers. Immaculately clean, superbly equipped and furnished apartment in the loft of a Georgian property with own hallway and staircase. All mod cons including full sized electric hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. Comfortable double bed with 100% cotton bed linen. Plenty of space in the living/sleeping area with sofa, tasteful occasional furniture and accessories, table and chairs, flat screen tv and dvd player. Large modern shower room with easily controlled and efficient shower and sumptuous towels. Views of the Weldsh hills from the roof lights. Outside table and chairs for that evening glass of wine.
