Location description from owner

The Wales region

The Brecon Beacons National Park lies on the border between Mid Wales and South Wales. It's home to waterfalls, forests, market towns and the highest peak in southern Britain.

With mountains and moorland, standing stones and castles, lively waterfalls and vibrant communities, the Brecon Beacons National Park has masses to our visitors. We have a long and colourful history and a rich and varied mythology and culture.

You can go ... walking, climbing, hiking, fishing, canoeing, horse-riding, sailing, cycling and so much more.

Our Park has some of the highest quality dark skies in the whole of the UK, making it the perfect destination for stargazers. There are loads of Events to enjoy stargazing - our entire National Park is an International Dark Sky Reserve. In 2012, we became just the fifth destination in the world (and the first in Wales) to be accredited.

Crickhowell

Crickhowell is a small but beautiful town. There are lots of lovely places to eat or drink and some fantastic shops, all privately owned - no chains here, everything you need in life can be bought in Crickhowell. The house backs on to a medieval castle ruin and there is a small children's play area in the grounds. There is a library in the town and many amazing walks or cycle routes on the doorstep and you can travel by foot, or hire bikes (which can be delivered to your door) or hire a canal boat and travel all the way along the canal to Brecon in one direction or Newport in the other.

House rules

Pets are allowed but under a strict policy. We made a small charge towards the additional cleaning. We have wooden floors throughout the property and often have people stay with allergies, so a very thorough clean is undertaken after we have had pets staying.

“No 2 Mortimer House, Crickhowell a great place to stay”

Reviewed 2 Sep 2015

The location is very handy, it has off road parking and close to everything you need but not near a busy street so also quiet. Great value rental with all mod cons. Natasha & Beth are very friendly and accommodating. I left some things there and they were even kind enough to post them on to my next location foc. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are walking/biking/ attending Green Man Festival or anything else in the area.

“incredibly welcoming going far beyond normal hospitality”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2015

Beautiful apartment in a very charming village, nearby the river, the ruins of a castel and a play garden for little children. in the kitchen really everything is provided for, to the smallest detail, for example sandwich bags to take your picknick! The good feeling about this apartment started from the first email with the owner, who was extremely friendly and helpful. But the welcoming we received exceeded even our high expectations! They had a surprise for our daughter's birthday, who is intolerant to gluten, dairy and soya, which is not easy at all to take into consideration when baking a pie...! They went far out of their way to give us a fantastic stay with 3 little children. There were more than enough toys and dvd's. But seeing that we traveled with a baby she got us a big bag full of more toys suitable for a little one. I could go on and go on like this, but i think it is already quite clear that this was a very very enjoyable place to stay thanks to Natasha and Beth!

“Mortimer House was very welcoming, comfortable and well presented.”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mortimer House. It was very spacious and comfortable. The layout of the apartment was excellent and the attention to detail made all the difference. It is situated in the middle of Crickhowell, a lovely small town with excellent pubs and restaurants within walking distance. A good location if you like walking in the Brecon beacons. Would thoroughly recommend Mortimer House.

Didn't know what to expect but absolutely delighted, the accomodation was spotless, the addition of the little extras, milk, bread etc was well thought out. Can't wait to go back to enjoy the Craic at Cric. Thanks again.
