Curlew has a magnificent setting with a true Highland landscape all around. Often complimented by the abundance of bird and wild life that an be seen on the estate. It is not unusual to see the deer meandering off the hill and passing nearby the cottage into the adjacent meadow.
Recently refurbished to the highest of standards the cottage benefits from new carpets, low energy heating, LED lighting and downstairs interior redecoration. The kitchen is hand built and finished in Cherry wood with all modern conveniences including washing machine, dishwasher, oven, hob fridge and freezer. "A beautiful base to explore and see some of the most amazing scenery."
My family and I (husband, 15 and 12 year old) spent 3 nights at Curlew cottage and wish we could have stayed more. The cottage itself is furnished to a high standard, comfortable, clean and has everything you need. The views are stunning overlooking Ben More and we were very lucky to have great weather. The cottage is maintained by the welcoming staff of 'Portnellan' which is across the road. Here you are able to use their equipment such as bikes, oars, wetsuits for any activities and also their local knowledge is useful for any walks, cycle routes or places to visit. Wi-fi is available at an extra cost which we found useful for our 2 at the end of a day. Our trip consisted of walking sections of the West Highland Way, a trip to killin to see the beautiful 'Falls of Dochart' and a great fish and chips in the Good Food restaurant! We will definately be back to 'bag' Ben More.
Thank you so much for the great review. It is hugely appreciated as, new owners of Curlew Cottage, it proves we are doing something right. I do hope you return.

"Stunning views and a cosy cottage - what more can you want from a break?!"
We stayed at Curlew Cottage in Portnellan as a last minute decision to celebrate Hogmanay. Best decision ever. Fireworks were ace and the 'Loony Dook' on New Years Day was so much fun!! The cottage itself was exactly what we needed for a getaway and the welcome by Cameron and his family was second to none. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the 'real scotland' then come here. We're coming back in summer!!
Many Thanks for your great review. Its much appreciated. It is a cosy cottage and New Year is always great fun. Look forward to welcoming you back in the summer for boating and fishing maybe. Alan H
