Rowan Cottage will appeal to those who enjoy being able to walk to the beach, yet be a short drive from all of Cornwall's sporting and other attractions. Rowan Cottage is easily accessible to the South West Coastal Path, which will also suit those who like to walk a bit further than to the beach and pub!

There is off road parking in the drive with a lockable five bar gate. There is parking for 3 cars. Step down to the gravel and inset paved path where via the front door, you step directly into a lobby with storage for shoes and pegs for coats.

Step from the porch into the hall to head directly up the stairs or turn left to the dining room and on into the Master Bedroom with en-suite, or turn right into the kitchen and on to the cosy and comfortable sitting room.

From the porch:

Turning right to the kitchen:

This fully fitted light and bright kitchen comes with Corian worktops, a double oven and hob, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and washing machine. As ever, our well equipped cottages are a self catering delight - Rowan Cottage's owners have invested in a Dualit kettle and Dualit toaster, as well as a Bosch Tassimo coffee machine for your use (capsules not supplied). The kitchen enjoys an outlook over the front garden.

Through the door to the sitting room:

This lovely room has a double aspect with a window to the front garden and french doors to the courtyard garden behind. There is a comfortable seating for five adults on sofas and armchairs. There are occasional chairs around the cottage that can be used in the sitting room. Lounge around the crackling log burner located in the large fireplace, watch the flat screen TV with DVD, or listen to relaxing music on the HiFi, or radio with iPod dock.

Turning left from the front door, and into the dining room:

This elegant room has a table seating 6 and a fireplace. Bookshelves are fitted to one side of the fireplace with a selection of books to peruse during your stay. There is a music system which can be used by guests, please bring CDs for your personal use.

A door from the dining room leads into the Master Bedroom Suite:

A really lovely room in which you can really indulge in and luxuriate in the country feel of Rowan Cottage. Here, you will find a comfy double bedstead in a large bedroom with plenty of storage. There are french doors that lead to the courtyard garden. The large ensuite bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower enclosure. There is an additional TV in this bedroom.

Upstairs you will find two further bedrooms and a bathroom:

To the left of the stairs you will find Bedroom 3 with a cosy and comfortable 4'6" bed with shuttered windows overlooking the front garden. This bedroom has built in hanging space and shelving.

To the right of the stair well is Bedroom 2: This room can be laid out as a twin with 3' single beds or as a super king with a 6' bed. There is a chair, storage and a built in wardrobe. Between the two bedrooms on the landing, is the second bathroom. Here there is a bath, pedestal sink and WC. There is a thermostatic over-bath shower attachment.

A cot and high chair is available.

Rowan Cottage has a lovely garden. There is plenty of space for children to play. The garden has a combination of lawn, patio and gravel pathways. The courtyard garden to the rear has sun most of the day and is a lovely retreat.

Location description from manager

The England region

Cornwall : a stunning county with many different faces. There is so much to do, see and explore in Cornwall. With the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain, you’ll discover tiny Cornish fishing villages, smuggler’s coves, countless spectacular beaches and sweeping bays, dramatic cliffs and coastlines, plus beautiful moorland and countryside. Located in the far west of Great Britain on a peninsula tumbling into the vast Atlantic Ocean, Cornwall is the only county in England bordered by just one other county, its neighbour Devon. So being almost surrounded by the sea, a magnificent coastline wraps around the county for almost 300 miles.

Crantock

The village of Cubert is a hamlet and is part of the larger area of Crantock. Cubert is about 1.5 miles from Crantock Village.

Cubert offers the ideal away from it all but not too far from facilities. There is a village shop with Post Office and the Smugglers Den pub.

From Rowan Cottage you can walk to Cubert Common and onto Polly Joke Beach. A fabulous location for dog owners to stay.

Just a mile away by car is Crantock. Crantock is a picturesque village of historical note, on the North coast of Cornwall with one of the best beaches in the area. It has an ancient church, two pubs a tea rooms, an art gallery, gift shop and a village store. It is only five miles from Newquay, but a world apart. It is popular with families in the summer and people who wish to surf, walk and enjoy all Cornwall has to offer - all year round.

Crantock Beach is a great beach for families and surfers alike. It has a wide sandy beach with sand dunes between the beach protecting the village. At low tide you can walk along the beach to West Pentire.

Polly Joke beach is the next beach around the coast going west. It has been described as one of the best beaches in Cornwall. It has to be walked to, making it less busy than other beaches in Summer.

Crantock has two pubs, the Cornishman and The Old Albion Inn, which are a short walk from the properties in Crantock Village. The Bowgie Inn, in West Pentire, is a short walk from Cormorant, Guillemot and Kittiwake. In Cubert, 2 miles from Crantock, the Smugglers Den, has a reputation for good food and wine.

We are dog friendly and allow well behaved dogs in most of our cottages. There are many walks for dog owners near Crantock, including the South West Coastal Path, which passes by the Village and can be reached on foot from all our cottages.

There is a large Morrisons supermarket about 5 minutes drive out of the village towards Newquay. Crantock is about 5 miles south of Newquay, which in the summer is a bustling holiday resort with shops, many clubs and pubs. There is a regular bus service to Newquay and taxis can be booked.

In Crantock there is a village store that provides many of a our holiday makers with their essential needs. Many of our guests use one of the supermarket online ordering facilities to have their shopping delivered on the day of their arrival, but not before 4pm (or your arrival) as we cannot take deliveries for you.
