Originally built for the Ratsey (sailmakers) family and to a very high standard with large rooms, solid block wood flooring downstairs. Now fully double glazed and snug with an Aga in the kitchen and full central heating.

Lovely, large gardens with BBQ, dining area, parking for 10 cars and patio areas.

Perfect for families, corporate guests and careful crews.

Situated within a five minute walk of Gurnard beach, this 1920's family home is an ideal base for exploring or just relaxing and watching the fabulous sunset's from the balcony.

Sleeping 17 in 7 bedrooms. 3 of the rooms can either be twins or doubles with zip and link beds. Two fixed doubles (with a fixed single in one of these rooms) and two fixed twin rooms.

Three en-suite rooms and an additional three bathrooms. The top floor bedroom (single plus double) has ladder steps going up to it. Large grounds with BBQ, spacious dining area, trampoline and children's toys.

All home comforts including WIFI, satelite TVs, dishwasher, large capacity washing machine, separate tumble dryer, and log fires in the lounge, dining room and snug room. There is also a desktop PC if you don't feel like bringing your laptop.

Inside dining capacity is 16 in the winter, in the summer we move one of the tables outside giving 10 inside and 12 outside.

Bed linen and towels are provided. Travel cot and stair gate are also available.

Pets are permitted subject to increased damage deposit and mandatory cleaning charge of £40.

Cleaning, catering and Island transport available on request.

“Fabulous Property”

We are a cricket team from the Brighton area, and we stay at Windrush once each year. The property has everything we need - ample sleeping quarters and large communal spaces which are invaluable for gathering 'en masse'. Windrush has a timeless ambience to it and puts you entirely at your ease. The nautical references are in keeping with the locality, and the house definitely exudes a holiday feel. Cowes is a 20-minute walk away and this is usually always easily achieved after a few pints at the Anchor Inn or some sustenance at The Mess or at Bahar's Tandoori restaurant. All in all, Windrush is a magical hideaway and has provided us with a perfect base for our visits to the Isle Of Wight over the last few years. Additionally it is a pleasure to deal with A Base Ashore, who have always gone the extra mile to help us out with logistics etc.

11 of us consisting of 4 adults and 7 children stayed at Windrush at the beginning of the Easter holidays. The house is huge and caters easily for large family groups, the children were able to have their own lounge whilst the adults could talk in peace in the second lounge! The garden was an added bonus for our week as the weather was amazing and the children played football for hours on the huge lawn. The property itself is in a lovely area within walking distance to the beach and a nice pub at the bottom of the hill. We had a small problem with the boiler during our stay but this was sorted out quickly and efficiently. There is so much to do on the island that we did not get it all done in a week and will certainly be returning to Windrush! Thank you for a fabulous holiday!

We have just spent a fabulous week at Windrush over New Year 2016. There were 3 families (12 in total + dog) and could have fitted in a few more as well! Windrush is a lovely old house with plenty of character and loads of space, and we never felt squashed in at all. Big rooms and plenty of bathrooms! The house is 10mins walk from the beach (easy walk mostly off road with a dog), and from there it is a lovely walk along the beach all the way into Cowes. There is a large garden (great for kids games etc) and a big driveway for 4+ cars. As always, the kitchen is main focus of the house and the aga is great for keeping the kitchen toasty warm and great for quick cooking with the ovens on all the time. The big kitchen table is great for mealtimes and for sitting round in the evening (with kids watching tv in other room). We picked the house for the combination of size (3+ families), location (15-20min walk into Cowes, and 10min to beach), 2 mins drive to supermarkets plus they allow your dog. All round perfect stay! Thanks.

We stayed at Windrush for five days in July. The house was perfect for our large group. The property is very spacious and felt very much like a home from home. There are many special things about Windrush .. .. the kitchen is a perfect gathering place, the living room has a lovely relaxed vibe, and the dining room is ideal for discussing the exploits of the day over the evening meal. The house is very well provisioned and sleeps 17 comfortably without the need to deploy bunk beds. The two family bedrooms are particularly fine – the main bedroom even has a balcony. This house is ideal for large groups, and miraculously does not feel at all crowded. That is testament to the grandeur of Windrush. The property is well maintained and decorated, and there is plenty of bedding and towels provided. The house has a particularly grand back garden which is ideal for kids. If you are looking for an Isle Of Wight base that will easily hold a large group, I would not hesitate in recommending this house to you. Cowes town centre is only a 20-minute walk away, and yet Windrush feels like it is situated in its own peaceful corner, enabling all to feel truly relaxed.

An ideal house for a large group plenty of room and facilities. Communication with the owner was good and informative, helpful regarding our room arrangments and arrival times. We had a great time over the Christmas period.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
