Description

Welcome to Mayfield - your three bedroomed holiday home all on one level situated at the back of the picturesque village of Coverack. Offering a high degree of privacy and seclusion but with ease of access to the local amenities and plenty of private parking. Beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished with wooden floorboards, Mayfield is the perfect holiday retreat.

To the front you will be captivated by the most breathtaking sea views and if you ever thought that was enough, the rear has far reaching views across fields.

Decking offers the perfect place to sit and appreciate the wonderful surroundings - we doubt you will want to leave. But if you do the beach, village store and pub are just a 4 minute walk away.

The England region

Blissfully warm compared to most of Britain, this part of Cornwall is blessed with generally 'soft' weather and a kind micro climate, attested to by the fields of early Daffodils and rare tropical plants that abound in the area. The Lizard coast is famous for its unique geological structure and dramatic coastline (to which many ships have succumbed in the past) which gives this area its particular 'flavour'. Coverack's proximity to the gentle green creeks of the Helford River also provides a diversity of landscape and offers a variety of places to explore.

There are many beautiful gardens and National Trust properties within the area, whilst St. Ives (Tate gallery, Hepburn Garden and numerous other galleries, as well as fabulous long surfing beaches), Penzance (St. Michael's Mount, proximity to fishing port of Newlyn with its fish markiet) or Falmouth (superb Maritime Museum, picturesque waterfront, numerous yachting facilities) are all within an hour's drive. There are many beautiful coves and beaches, such as Kynance Cove, and picturesque villages such as Gweek to visit nearby. Within easy reach of Coverack you could also go down a mine, visit the most Southerly point in Britain at the Lizard or walk round the romantic 'Frenchman's Creek'.

Water sports abound. The Helford River is a famous sailing location and there is some wonderful diving to be had locally at Porthkerris. Surfing locally would depend on the winds, but the North Coast offers some superb surfing throughout the year and again would take roughly an hour's drive. For those who wish to be in the car a little longer, you could even take a day out exploring the Lost Gardens of Heligan or the Eden Project, both near St. Austell.

Coverack

Coverack is situated on the Lizard Peninsular. Once a notorious smugglers haunt, it is now one of the most beautiful of Cornwall's fishing villages with its small harbour nestling in the south side of the bay. Our holiday destination for over 15 years it has a sand and pebble beach and a windsurfing school, where tuition is available. There is a Pub, Post Office, general store, two gift shops, an art gallery, cafes and an ice cream parlour. This is a perfect maritime place that's ideal for windsurfing, swimming and walking.

There are many things to do in the area within a short drive. Beaches at Downas Cove, Kennack Sands, Porthallow and Godreavy Cove. Attractions at Flambards Theme Park, Roskilly Dairy Farm, Gweek Seal Sanctuary, Goonhilly Satellite Observatory visitors centre, Lizard Point. Tropical Gardens at Glendurgan and Trebah and the picturesque Helford River Land's End and the Minnack Open Air Theatre are both about 30 miles. The Eden Project is approxmately 40 miles away.

The south west coast path is close by incorporating the breathtaking vantage point of Black Head and far reaching views towards England's most southerly point.

“Lovely, lovely stay!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

We visited this lovely holiday home in may with our 2 cocker spaniels. Set in beautiful grounds, much bigger than we originally thought, amazing views, secluded, private, within couple minutes from stunning beach! Can't say enough about this place, ideal for 2 adults 2 children, or in our case dogs! not huge inside but adequate. We didn't have the best weather for sitting outside, but a couple of days were warm enough to use the plentiful garden furniture on the welcoming decking to admire the views....its obviously not finished yet as the lean to/ conservatory is still the original, but really handy space. Coverack is stunningly unspoilt we love it and would definitely return.

“Fantastic location, away from it all!”

We simply love Mayfield and Coverack. My family and I have been guests of Mayfield for the last 5 years and could not stay anywhere else in Cornwall! It is our home from home, has eveything we need, not to mention beautiful views! It's an absolute gem, the perfect place to stay in a perfect location for a true getaway holiday in Cornwall.

“A lovely holiday in a lovely place”

Reviewed 6 May 2012

Mayfield is in a superb location with easy access to the beach, harbour and local shops, well within walking distance. The views from the main bedrooms and hall are magnificient over the bay to the headland. The accomodation is comfortable and to a high standard. It is very well equipped, a real holiday home. We found it a great base for getting out and about on the Lizard as well as walking along the coastal paths from Coverack.
