Location description from owner

The Canary Islands region

Playa de las Americas covers the large urbanised Regional area of both Adeje and Arona and creates a thriving city in the south of Tenerife. Adeje and Arona are part of separate local government regions but are otherwise indistinguishable from each other. This “city” was built with a focus on “Tourism” and is mostly made up of hotels and apartment complexes with plenty of beaches, bars and restaurants. English is spoken almost universally and after Spanish is the main language.

Many UK holidaymakers describe Tenerife as their dream holiday island. So, what is it about this island that makes it so popular? The island of Tenerife is by far the biggest of the Canary Islands, and probably the most popular with visitors and holiday makers. A staggering 11 million visitors arrive in Tenerife each year and for an island with only around 800.000 inhabitants this is impressive. The weather is the main reason why most people flock to Tenerife’s shores and return again and again, to enjoy almost guaranteed sunshine all year. Family-friendly, duty free and just a four-hour flight away, it is consistently a top winter sun destination. As Tenerife has a spring/summer climate all year round, there is no bad time to visit. You are most likely to see some rain, particularly in the north, in November and February/March. High season is January to Easter.

Flights from Britain are more plentiful and cheaper in the winter months whereas hotel prices are at their highest. With warm, sunny days and balmy nights, September is one of the nicest months to visit and prices have not yet hit their seasonal high.

Most holidaymakers head to the south-western resorts of Los Cristianos, (Arona) , Playa de las Americas (Arona and Adeje) and Fanabe(Adeje). where most of the island’s holiday accommodation is located. Costa Adeje is the shiny new face of Tenerife and considered by some to be the more upmarket choice. Its four- and five-star hotels, chic boutiques and manicured beaches are impressive. On the south-east coast the resort of El Médano is fanned by near constant trade winds attracting surfers and retaining a Canarian culture. It also has, by reputation, some the best natural beaches on the island.

Playa de las Americas is a quality holiday destination with excellent facilities and environment with designer labels and bougainvilla-lined walkways, and the resort , impressively still the main holiday centre on the island now attracts predominantly families and couples.

Tenerife is probably best-known for golf resorts and its southern shores around Playa de las Americas but this island is actually one of quite marked contrasts; from golden sandy beaches to black volcanic beaches; from high mountain peaks to green verdant valleys. This dramatic scenery attracts many and draws in those wanting to sunbathe on the bright shores but also the many needing a more active, challenging type of holiday e.g. walking, diving or nature-based holidays.

Tenerife has become a dream island for holidaymakers because it truly has something for everybody, from the spectacular scenery, unbeatable beaches with the very pleasant and consistent all year round warm and dry climate. The climate is exceptional and only rivalled by Florida and Acapulco.

Costa Adeje

This apartment is situated in a quiet although very popular location of San Eugenio Bajo (lower) in Playa las Americas. It is the preferred area of San Eugenio as it is closer to the sea and is on the seaward side of the TF1 Motorway. It is close to a major shopping complex, the local harbour where luxurious yachts are moored.

This apartment is situated in an attractive quiet and secure gated community close to pretty well all amenities and sports. The apartment is fitted out to a very high standard with excellent décor including original oil paintings and watercolours and has excellent functionality. The location of San Eugenio is one of the nicest in Playa las Americas, Tenerife. There are beautiful views from the large rear terrace facing due West towards the setting sun with direct sunshine from midday to sunset. Spectacular sunsets and occasional firework displays. Front terrace benefits from the early morning sun until 2 pm and benefits from a grassed area with an archway of "Oleander".

Excellent indoor and outdoor facilities. Proximity to shops, pubs, restaurants and the harbour at Puerto Colon, a five minute walk away, and the famous "Geranium Walk" to Playa Fanabe in one direction and Los Cristianos in the other direction.

This apartment is truly in a nice and quiet location in South Tenerife, Playa las Americas and is a suitable base to do what you want to do. You do not need a car but if you do you can explore the entire Island visiting many places of interest. The "Tenerife Pearl" shop is worth a visit. Teide, the volcano and the Parador (Hotel run by the Spanish State) are worth a visit. Sunday lunch in the main restaurant at the Teide Parador is truly memorable. On the economic side a large beer can cost from Euro 1.50 and a large English breakfast from Euro 3.50. T- bone steaks from circa Euro 14.00. (Mario restaurant around the corner).
