Casa Fontelunga is a lovely country house placed in an enchanted location hillside, between our olive plantation and just a few minutes from the beautiful art city of Cortona, made famous worldwide from the book and movie 'Under the Tuscan Sun'.
Privacy and quietness are the main features of this accommodation, left intact in the original stile, renovated maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere and a very romantic look.
It is easy to reach and to move from, thanks to the centrality of the area, well connected to main communication road and railroad that you can reach in only a few minutes drive. Still you will feel the sensation of being immersed in the quietness of the typical Tuscan countryside.
The 3 level garden faces the sunset and the swimming pool has view on the valley underneath. The typical Tuscan country stile has been preserved and it is also close to main Umbrian city like Perugia, Orvieto, the Trasimeno lake.

IN the family villa, just 5 minutes from casa Fontelunga, Mamma Donatella will expose you technical and theoretical of the Tuscan country tradition e will use ingredients coming from our farm.
Cooking classes are availableon request, ahnds on and with a maximum number of 10 studentds at the time.
Traditional dinners at our restaurant on request.

shopping services: we can buy groceries for you before yourarrival so you dont have to worry about food 10 € + the cost of the grocery

The Tuscany region

The arezzo aera was one of the outlasting property of the Medici family until reanissance. Many medieval tow rest on the hilly landscape of the area.
Cortona is an ancient city founded from the Etruscans about 4000 years ago, It wash rebuilt mostily during early mid age and it has benn preserved that way in the last 100 year.
Many artistic focal point are present in tow, mainly renaissance churches and building.
The Museo diocesano and the Museo Etrusco are rich of ancient manufact.

Cortona

Casa Fontelunga is located about 4 km from Cortona, close to the border between Tuscany and Umbria.
Cortona is a wonderful small medieval town, rich of incredible and caracteristic restaurants and food shops. The museum Diocesano with its medieval and Piertro Da Cortona's paintings and Museo etrusco, with ancient Etruscan reperts, are surely wort visiting. It was in the past a religious focus point: s. Francesco di Assisi built a very sprotual and beautiful monstry here, and you can find many renaissance churches.
In 30 minutes drive you can reach Montepulciano, Pienza Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi, Città di Castello S. Sepolcro,Trasimeno Lake. In about 1 hour you can be in Florence, Siena, Montalcino, S. Gimignano, Gubbio, Todi, Spoleto and you can reach Roma with the train or car in about 1.30 hours.

House rules

Check in between 3 and 7 pm, an approximate arrival time comunication i'ts greately appreciated. Different arrival time possible after agreement.
chek out before 10 am.
Swimming pool is open when outside temperature has stabilized above 25° (normally the second hal of May) and closed when desced unnder ( normally end of september). We might anticipate or delay those times depending of weather conditions..
Heating is available on request with extra charge for weekly rental
