Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

The Waterside Holiday Park is situated in Corton a quiet, peaceful village, near Lowestoft on the Suffolk and Norfolk border and is an ideal base to explore these two counties. There is a bus stop directly outside the park entrance which has good links to Lowestoft, Gorleston with it's expanse of golden sand, and Great Yarmouth. Nearby is the popular tourist attraction of Pleasurewood Hills and the long, golden sandy beaches of Hopton and Gorleston-on-sea.For golfers there are two options: Dip Farm Pitch ad Putt is just 1.3 miles away (about 3 minutes) and Gorleston Golf Club is 4.3 miles away (about 9 minutes). Gorleston Golf Club offers a range of prices and includes a "twilight" tee off at a very reasonable green fee.For the cyclists, the National Cycle Route 1 and the majority of the British Section of the North Sea Cycle Route passes through Corton right outside the main entrance..The cliffs and beach at Corton form part of a stretch of Suffolk coastline known as the 'sunrise coast' and Ness-Point in Lowestoft, also known as Lowestoft Ness, is the UK's most easterly point – which means guests at our Self Catering Holiday home can be among the first to greet the sun.Lowestoft is Britain's most easterly town and is an ideal holiday and short break destination for all ages, with a mix of vibrant sandy beaches, coastal walks and quality family attractions. The beaches to the north and south of the Claremont Pier, on Wellington Esplanade in Lowestoft, are considered to be some of the very best in Europe, and currently hold the Blue Flag Award. If you're looking for family fun you are spoilt for choice with two of East Anglia's biggest attractions right on Lowestoft's doorstep. Spend a day with the animals at Africa Alive or, the Pleasurewood Hills theme park set on a 59-acre site between Corton and Gunton, contains attractions that includes three rollercoasters. So, whether you're an adrenaline thrill ride junkie or looking for an exciting fun packed day out for the entire family, Pleasurewood Hills has it all!You can either stay on site and use the heated indoor pool or drive into Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth or go crabbing in Walberswick. Lewisia Lodge provides the ideal base from which to explore the many seaside attractions of Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft, or the miles of beautiful golden sandy beaches along the curving coastline of the Norfolk and Suffolk shores. Also nearby is Oulton Broad (Southern gateway to the Norfolk & Suffolk Broads) and the City of Norwich with its Norman Castle and stunning Cathedral, shops and market.Lowestoft offers a great choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. Corton Golf course is very close by and, for anglers, Corton offers a variety of fishing because the beach extends around a headland.LowestoftThe two best websites to seek further information about Lowestoft are Love Lowestoft, which provides all the information a tourist to the town could require and Lowestoft Pages, which has all contact details for every business in Lowestoft as well as local news and events.

Corton

The East Anglia regionEast Anglia is a relaxed region full of market towns and villages of colour-washed, thatched cottages and numerous historic churches and Cathedrals. The local area has many other attractions and places of interest and whether you are interested in historic buildings, wildlife parks, military museums, working steam railways or just a relaxing day by the sea, there will always be something for the new or returning visitor to enjoy and (especially for the Mums) there is also the City of Norwich with its status as one of the top shopping destinations in Britain. Further inland are the spectacular Norfolk and Suffolk Broads which is Britain's largest protected wetland and third largest inland waterway. It's also home to some of the rarest plants and animals in the UK. The Broads Authority was set up in 1989, with responsibility for conservation, planning, recreation and waterways. Make a day of exploring these wonderful wetlands by hiring a day boat from Oulton Broad or taking a Ferry ride and relax in style on the Southern Broads. The Broads offer 125 miles of boating on lock-free tidal rivers. Boat hire to explore the Broadland's waterways, windsurfing and sailing are available at Oulton Broad. Fritton Lake and Countryworld, Somerleyton Hall and Africa Alive are all within 8 miles and the coastal town of Southwold, is about 15 miles.

Lewisia Lodge is a great place to stay, comfortable, clean, shop was handy, WiFi at the clubhouse came in useful, and the beach on the doorstep. Although I didn't meet the owner, on the phone she sounded friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend the lodge to family and friends. One of the best I've stayed in J Harker (Dorset)

Thank you so much for your very kind comments. We were disappointed not to meet you but hopefully we will on your next holiday in Lewisia Lodge. Best wishes Sue
