The Canary Islands region

Fuerteventura is believed to be the oldest Island in the Spanish owned Canary archipelago. Fuerteventura is situated just 100km from the Moroccan coastline and is the second largest of the Canary Islands after Tenerife.

Fuerteventura boasts over 150 white sand beaches some of which are the best to be found in all of Europe and is an island of barren landscapes, mountains, sand dunes and stunning views.

The hottest months are July - September and temperatures can be very high, with little humidity. The winter months temperatures are equal to a mediteranean summer.... summer lasts just about 12 months of the year on Fuerteventura. An ideal winter sun location.

Touring the island is easy driving ! with slow speed limit and few cars. East to West you are never far from the coastline, and North to South can easily be achieved - there and back - on a days outing with visits to amazing villages stuck in time zones and dropping off for some amazing snacks/lunches or just picnics on the beaches.

Visitors can be stuck for choice of where to visit and which beach to laze on!

Corralejo has been improved over the last few years. Shopping is good, parking free and walking from one end to the other via the beaches/coastal path a must. In the evening there are excellent and many new Restaurants with great music live bars/venues.

Beaches are the best in the North and are both safe for swimming/surfing/body boarding/scuba/snorkeling.....please ask for recommendations.

Corralejo

There are several beaches in and around the town of Corralejo, totalling miles and miles of white golden sands. It is possible to learn how to take part in surfing, windsurfing, kite boarding, snorkeling/scuba, and cycling activities, especially at Flag Beach just a short distance south of the town.

Corralejo has a busy little harbour and caters for the ferries that run between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. There is also a range of tourist orientated activities that operate out of the port as well as a fishing fleet that is based there. There are many activities that operate including, glass bottom boats, trips to Lanzarote and Isla de Lobos, as well as fishing, snorkeling and diving trips.

For those of you that prefer to keep your feet completely dry whilst having your holiday fun, there are plenty of shopping opportunities. An open market is twice a week held during mornings - great for those clothe/bags/leather bargains, and every Sunday there is an Artisan Craft Market and live Canarian Music held in El Campanario Centre. You can purchase hand made artistic items such as silk paintings/oil paintings, small ceramics to diamanté dog collars bearing the name of your pouch!. There are now several commercial centres around the town with shops such as Zara, All prices are in euro so bargains compared to sterling prices are for sure.

There are amusement arcades and a couple of bowling alleys with 8 or 10 lanes. There is the usual array of mini golf courses and a few children's playgrounds, some of which are public areas. There are several companies that run all kinds of organised tours out of Corralejo. These include cycling, hiking, quad bike riding and the usual coach tours around the Island. You could also hire a car, or use the local bus service to get around the island.

“Quiet, Hot and Luxurious for those wishing to relax”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2013

We were looking for a week of relaxation and sunshine with a villa which offered a high level of luxury. Casa Eden was perfect. The complex was lovely and quiet and we spent at least 3 days simply reading and relaxing at the villa. It has everything you need, including lots of space plus all the homely things you need such as books, dvd's and a washing machine - all brilliant if you are travelling with only hand luggage! Having en-suite bathrooms is also a bonus and the showers were lovely and powerful. Both my friend and I found the beds a touch hard - despite liking a firmer mattress we both thought they needed a tiny bit more give! The villa itself is immaculate and decorated very well with excellent kitchen appliances with all the implements you need. Chris and Janet are also extremely helpful should you need it and also Gillian is an excellent transfer option as she will give you a run down of the town and what you can do. The pool is amazing but there is no shallow end - however anyone over 5ft should be able to touch the bottom, but is great to dip in and out of any time - it's always lovely and warm. The roof terrace is spacious and although we didn't use the bbq - it would be a great addition for evening meals. The outdoor furniture is also lovely and comfy and one of the great benefits of the villa is that there is always shade somewhere outside on the lower terrace... so if you need a break from the sun but want to stay outside you can do. Although the villa is quite a way out of town the taxis are very cheap and we tried walking to the beach over the sand dunes and down to town but then took taxis everywhere. A tip on the dunes - the sea looks closer than it is from the villa, so unless you are up for a trek - get a cab to the beach! Our favourite restaurant was 'On the Beach' - an absolute must in amongst the steak houses! All in all - the villa was brilliant and of a high standard so that you could happily stay there all day without feeling confined or in need of anything. Plus the supermarket is a 2 min walk away and there is a restaurant on the complex (we didnt' try it but other guests said it was very good) and they do breakfasts if you are really feeling lazy!

Thankyou for your review. It was so nice to meet you and you really did relax. I remember it was what you were seeking to do when making your enquiry. You certainly did recieve lots of sun too. Thankyou for also looking after the villa so well during your stay and we will welcome you back anytime in the future. Best wishes from Fuerteventura.

“Wonderful Villa, very clean and welcoming!”

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at this villa. We were impressed by the level of support given to us by the agent Allison Baker. All my emails of enquiry were answered promptly and all questions prior to stay answered - and I did send quite a few! The facilities certainly surpassed our expectations - good selection of DVD's was a welcome find. Everything we needed to make our stay comfortable was found within the villa, hairdryer, iron and ironing board etc. We will certainly be making a further booking!
