This villa is in the historic center of one of the most picturesque medieval towns of Italy (i borghi piu belli d'Italia), surrounded by the majestic mountains of Northern Tuscany. The house is special even among similar villas in the area as it offers large, light spaces which are at the same time private and intimate. With four spacious en-suite apartments on three floors, two kitchens and two gardens, there is ample space to dine and wine with a bigger company and to retire for some reading or quiet time. The house will not be crowded even when fully occupied. It is ideal for a family vacation, holiday with friends or retreats for special occasions.
The Villa has been fully restored and modernized, while we kept its historic character. It is listed in the directory of historic properties in Italy. It offers stunning views of the villages and mountains in the area. Villa della Rocca is ideal for a holiday to visit Lucca and its surroundings; walking, hiking and biking; discovering the amazing natural parks and historic villages of the area; wine-tasting tours and baths (terme); exploring the marble mountains, Cinque Terre and the Ligurian sea; and all the while experiencing the life of the local community.

There are four spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on two floors. Two rooms are on the first floor: BORGO and MAGNOLIA (one bathroom is with a tub, the other one with a shower); and two rooms on the second floor (SOLE - bathroom with shower; VISTA has both a tub and a shower). BORGO and MAGNOLIA are cozy with pretty views to the village and the garden. VISTA has a full view of the surrounding mountains, and South-facing SOLE gets the most sunshine. (Since the house has 50 cm thick stone walls, however, it stays cool even in the biggest summer heat.)
Common areas: All three floors feature a 30 sqm living room with panoramic views, sofas and with a fireplace in the upper one. The entry level living room on the ground floor does not have the panorama but it is lightly furnished and provides an ideal space for yoga, meditation, exercise or floor games. On the first floor (middle-level) there is a huge Italian kitchen where we opened the wall to the dining room with direct access to the upper garden. There is also a kitchen/dining area in the second floor (upper level). Both gardens have garden furniture, as well as a small grill in the upper garden.
Amenities, facilities: For the summer, a children's pool is set up in the upper garden. There are three bicycles available for free use by the guests. There is also wireless Internet in the house.

The Tuscany region
The Northern part of Tuscany is a region where history lives together with nature and people. Stunning views of the Carrara marble mountains and Apuani Alps from easy to reach peaks to crystal clear mountain creeks. The Garfagnana valley is famous for its culinary treats combining forest fruits, locally grown vegetables and healthy meat. Places of interest: Lucca, Pisa, Orrido di Botri and other national parks, Barga, Bagni di Lucca Terme, marble quarries of Carrara, funicular and historic terme of Montecatini, wine region of Montecarlo, Abetone ski region, Ligurian sea and Cinqueterre. The Lucca antique and flea market is famous across Europe. For shopping fans, Lucca and the Barberino outlet (towards Bologna) are special treats.
Coreglia Antelminelli is one of the 200 most beautiful settlements in Italy (i borghi piu belli d'Italia). It was home to the plaster sculpting "figurine makers" and it is the number one place of display of open air Christmas nativity scenes (preseppe) in Tuscany. All religious holidays are celebrated in a unique way and every year in early August there is a Festa Medievale where villagers celebrate their history with costume role playing. In the area there is a festival of the chestnut, of porcini, of azaleas and other local produce.

"Wonderful Truly Italian Villa"
We have spent in Villa Della Rocca an amazing week last August. It was an unforgettable experience, everything here is wining your favour – comfortable and spacious house, spectacular and breathtaking view of a mountain valley, antique village filled with history, friendly neighbors and village citizens, striking nature and forests full of berries - all these peculiar points has made our holidays bright and unique. Living in a big city I was enjoying everything here… the atmosphere, the air, the sound of silence and so close starred sky. I would recommend it to everyone who is tired of spending all the time on the beach (while the sea is about one hour drive from the place), who wishes to see something absolutely different and not spoiled with crowds of tourists (while famous sights as Lucca, Florence and Pisa are easily reachable). If you want to plunge into typical Italy, walking through narrow stone paved streets, twisting around yards and gardens, feel the spirit of adventure and at the same time to spend some time in relaxing atmosphere far from the noise of the cities – this place is right for you.

"Incredible authentic experience of true Italian vacations"
It was one the best holidays I’ve ever had in my life! I with boyfriend and friends were spending fantastic time in a true Italian Villa from the 18th century. Very stylish, all in flowers in both gardens with a perfect service we felt that were hosted like very special guests, actually like friends arriving to discover this still quite hidden but beautiful area. Every morning waking up and observing incredible mountain view or in the evening coming back from the sea, from sightseeing or from the cozy restaurant nearby we were sitting near the antique fire place with a glass of Italian wine and were thinking that now we truly know what Dolce Vita means. As you can see) was falling in love with this place so would want to come back and strongly recommend it to everybody searching for something Special!

"Stay of great dimensions"
We made a trip at the beginning of November to catch the last moments of Toscana's autumn up. It was really hard to believe that we can find the small village and even the house in dark night - but we did! - thanks for the hospitality of the owner, the cosmopolitan-hungarian young professional, Balazs. I've already heard a lot about the Villa, but it seemed surprisingly palatial and spacious. Just try to imagine to have a living room-size bedroom and a ballroom-size dining room. In cities those buildings are "palazzi", in a village it is humbly a 'villa". Everything inside are very well-tailored: practical things (bath, kitchen) are useful, all the others are full of spirit, charm and humor. In the garden you can see the previous guest's work on rosemary bush - they intentioned to make a fence for the plant, so they did so. It seemed they felt home... The second surprise was the neighbourhood - a dozen of tiny, intimate village, with no turists and souvenir-shops. So, to have a brake, some fresh mountain-air, to imagine yourself back a better and more relaxed time - it is the place.
