The Paphos District

Paphos is situated on the West coast of the Mediterranean island of Cyprus and enjoys the best climate on the island, being the warmest in the Winter and the coolest in the Summer. The Villa is located in Paphos. The whole town is on the UNESCO Heritage list.

Paphos was the Roman capital of the island thus most of the history is located in Paphos and the surrounding region. There are mosaics, museums, archaeological sites in abundance, the majority a few minutes drive away from the Villa. There are over nineteen monasteries on the island some of Latin background, some of Greek Orthodox and each monastery makes its own wine.

Paphos is also a wine producing area with many award wining wines. The closest winery is a mere 12 minute drive away from the Villa.

The Paphos area is one of the most beautiful parts of the island with its sweeping coast line and green hills. It is also officially a golfing destination with three 18 hole champion golf courses.

Roman Paphos was the island's capital, and the 3rd century mosaics here are the finest in the Mediterranean. The atmosphere is fun-loving and friendly, with plenty of bars, pubs, discos, a few nightclubs and innumerable eating places providing anything from choice Italian cuisine to sizzling souvlaki off the spit.

Paphos is the new jewel golf resort of the island, with 3 courses and more under construction. The wonderful Aphrodite Hills is East of Paphos, it's a champion standard course being par 70/71 and 6232 metres, complete with excellent on-site facilities and spa for those who don't play golf! Secret Valley currently and 18 hole course again East of Paphos, panoramic views and is par 72 and 6120 metres, it is currently being extended to a 36 hole course! Menthis Hills, this is 20 mins away an elevated position 550 metres above sea level ensures cool breezes in the summer, its again par 72 and 6060 metres, it has been redesigned and constructed in summer 2007.

Coral Bay

The Sea Caves area is situated in a peaceful location between the popular resort of Coral Bay and the tiny fishing hamlet of St Georges. The coastline in this area is full of natural rock caves making it ideal snorkeling territory, however if you prefer an organized beach then the family oriented resort of Coral Bay is only a short drive away. The nearest taverna (summer opening only) is approximately 700 meters away.

Coral Bay approximately 6 kilometers away is the well known beach resort for the Paphos district and has become a lively resort with plenty to offer in terms of amenities and activities. The center of the resort features a wide selection of restaurants offering both Cypriot and International Cuisines, cafes, bars, shops, a choice of supermarkets, several banks, a chemist and a laundry. The resort boasts two sandy beaches, the closest one to the villa being Corallia Bay, the quieter of the two. A little further along the coast is the, the popular and busy Coral Bay Beach, a sandy horseshoe shaped bay honoured with a Blue Flag of the European Union. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for hire, water sports are on offer and there are two beach cafes providing refreshments.

For a taste of the more traditional, approximately 2.3 kms away is the Church at St George which overlooks the modest fishing harbor from where you can enjoy some of the islands most memorable sunset views and enjoy a traditional Cypriot meze meal at one of the small selection of family run tavernas. For nature lovers the start of the protected Akamas Peninsula is just to the north of the village.

Paphos Town approximately 15 kilometers away, was once the capital of the island is now included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage. The remains of villas, palaces, theaters, fortresses and tombs mean that the town is of exceptional architectural and historic value. The well preserved mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings are probably the biggest cultural draw with further archaeological discoveries continually being made. Ano Pafos on the cliff is the main administrative center and residential district while Kato Pafos, by the sea, is the main tourist area built around the harbor and medieval port.

The Paphos Zoo and the Horse Riding Stables which cater for all ages are both within the Sea Caves area and only a few minutes drive away. Mini golf, water sports and go-karting are all activities available in the resort of Coral Bay and if you extend your exploring to encompass the town of Paphos, the list of available activities expands to include a snooker hall, bowling alley, water park, several Heritage sites, attractive harbor area and modern shopping facilities.

There are 4 golf courses; Tsada Golf Course, Secret Valley Golf Course, Aphrodite Hills Golf Course and Elea Golf Course all within approximately a 40 minute drive.

We came here for the second time and it's always fantastic. The children enjoy the deep pool so they can jump. Also all kind of swimming games is for your use. Absolutely gorgeous is the garden, where you can play table tennis, football or other games. This time a storm broke the electricity, but no problem the owner repaired it in short time. In the house it' s very clean and you have enough space and bathrooms. We used the free WIFI a lot. At this place you have tranquility and you are safe, you can even leave the door open. thanks a lot to the family Shellis We hope to come a third time Ottilia from Switzerland
