Description

My Husband designed our” Gem” from our Barn, which is attached to our house. This type of house and barn is called a Laithe House. It was built approx 1750. We have tried to leave all the original features, stable doors and beams. It has a feel of home about it. It is an upside down house, bedrooms are downstairs. We have a bathroom and shower room. We wanted to spend most of the day sitting in the lounge and kitchen, on the first floor, looking at the wonderful views. On the mezzanine floor you will find books and a desk to work from. Wi -fi is available , because the walls are very thick to keep the warmth in and cold out you may need to sit near the windows. We have shutters at the windows for the bleak midwinter, wind and snow.
The lounge and kitchen is open plan, windows at each end so that you get the morning sun in the Kitchen and the evening sunsets. Sit on the window seats and take in the views. Relax in the recliner settee.

The bedrooms are double and twin, both with wardrobes.
The central heating is oil fired, which heats the water and the house. We have a (wood burning look a like) gas stove in the lounge.
The garden is a paddock where you can have your BBQ. There is garden furniture. Also we have a few children toys, swing and slide etc.
There is an area in the barn where you can store your bikes, wet boots e.
There is a parking next to the cottage for 2 cars.
We love animals but sorry, due to allergies of other people, we do not allow dogs or smoking in the cottage.
Last thing to tell you is the drive to the cottage is up our track, maintained regularly. You will drive past a historical building, another house and then into our yard. The track is about half a mile but well worth the journey.
