“A great place to explore the Lakes”

Reviewed 1 Aug 2016

We had a fantastic 4 night stay in this lovely old cottage in the heart of the Lakes. The place was really clean, well furnished and we very much appreciated the wine left for our arrival! The room layout was ideal for 4 adults with 3 young children and the cottage spacious enough that we didn't get on top of each other. The parking was tight with 2 large cars but we managed. Great access to walking paths, local pubs/shops and the lake. The whole booking and staying process was made very easy by Mary and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to explore the Lakes.

Thank you very much. We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay and hope that you will visit us again.

“lovely cottage - ideal location”

Lovely birthday weekend in Coniston Very nicely furnished cottage, ideal location. lovely views and garden area.Bedrooms lovely and Beds very comfy, log fire welcoming Lovely touch with wine and flowers, Facilities in kitchen great. Some people may miss not having a telly - I didn't! On wet days somewhere to dry clothes would be useful Had a fab meal at black bull Thanks Mary

Thank you for your comments. We will try to address the problem of wet clothes as soon as possible.

“Beautiful cottage”

Reviewed 5 May 2013

Cottage was much bigger than expected. Has everything we could need. Bottle of wine, milk, and logs for the fire were awaiting us which was a nice treat. The cottage itself was beautiful and its location was ideal for walking into town to shop, or eat. Also close to several walking trails. Driveway is a tight fit and having to strip all of the beds before we left was a bit over the top. Overall despite this the cottage was a wonderful weekend retreat.

Sorry you felt that stripping the beds was a bit much but we do not know otherwise which beds have been used and "environmentally" do not want to have to do unnecessary washing. Very pleased that apart from that you enjoyed your visit

“Cosy cottage in great location”

Lovely old cottage close to the lake and village centre. No TV which was disappointing for the children after a long walk.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry that you were disappointed to find that there was no television but we do only advertise the cottage as having a DVD player.

“Beautiful and comfortable cottage, great for families”

Reviewed 24 Apr 2012

We stayed at Melbourne House as a group of 6 adults and a 2-year-old, and we all enjoyed it. I was very glad we were in Coniston, because it is not as busy and crowded as other small towns around, but still lively and interesting. The house's location is perfect, close to town's cafes and shops. There are lots of beautiful walks around and lots of places to see. The cottage was very clean and beautifully presented, and had everything we needed.

Thank you for your very positive response. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you again in the future.

“A cosy stonecottage in a peaceful place.”

It was a perfect way to really get the felling of the english country living. Cows and sheep next to the cottage and a river (that my friend actully took a bath in) just 5 meters from the house. The evenings we spent in front of the fireplace and just relaxed, it was so peacefull.

Really pleased to hear that you enjoyed it
