Hidden away up the quiet lane past and next to the Ship Inn, just south
of Coniston, is this C18th farmhouse. Now a beautifully refurbished
cottage, where traditional meets modern, Bowmanstead is perfect for
romantics, walkers and local pub lovers.

A typical Lakeland
porch invites you in and doubles up as an ideal place to leave your
walking boots. There's even a stone bench to help. The living room is
full of charm and character - beamed ceiling, massive stone hearth with
real fireplace, big slate flags covered with rugs, big cosy sofa ideal
for curling up in. Up a couple of steps is a separate raised dining
area, with Lakeland prints and antique furniture. By contrast there is a
modern galley kitchen, with slate worktops, Dualit toaster, big gas
range and a view to the courtyard out front.

From the living
room, there's a hidden narrow stairwell that leads you up, past the
pictures of Herdwick sheep,

head!). There's a very modern and chic bathroom with motion sensor
lighting, with a comfortable double bedroom next door. The master
bedroom has a magnificent four-poster bed with gorgeous linen, complete
with en suite bathroom/wet room and dressing area.

Adjacent is a
terraced cottage garden, with furniture, a lovely spot to while away the
evenings and catch the last rays of sunshine. You are welcome to
explore the garden but due to the nature of the terracing we recomnmend
that children are supervised at all times. Footpaths are close by, going
down to the lake for the Cumbrian Way, or into the fells and The Old
Man of Coniston. This is a must for diehard romantics or maybe two
couples wanting a leisurely countryside break?
