Description

Situated on the Costa de la Luz 400m from the Atlantic, our flat features views of the sea from every room. We love this place for the nightly technicolor sunsets we can enjoy from our private terrace overlooking the small white-washed village, adjacent historic windmill ruins, and pine forest leading down to the water. We're only a 5 minute walk from everything, including miles of white sand beach, restaurants, bars, language schools, supermarkets and shops.

Built in 2004, our flat is outfitted with high-end fixtures, appliances and recessed lighting. There is one bedroom with a very large double bed that can be separated into twin beds. All rooms have ocean views and a lot of light, with french doors in both the bedroom and living room that open to a balcony.

Location description from owner

The Costa de la Luz region

The Costa de la Luz (Coast of Light) is the western part of the Andalucía coastline that faces out to the Atlantic. This area has not seen the high-rise hotel development of other coasts in Spain. The more than 185 miles /300 kilometers of coastline from Gibraltar to the Portuguese border is relatively unspoilt, with Cádiz and Huelva being the only significant urban areas (both with a population of about 140,000). Beaches here are expansive and often backed by sand dunes and pine trees. The sand is finer and a more golden color than the neighboring Costa del Sol and the temperatures are slightly milder, with the often strong Atlantic winds and waves being favored by wind surfers and surfers alike.

Conil de la Frontera

Conil is a picturesque seaside village of 20,000 people, located about 1/4 of the way up the Costa de la Luz from Gibraltar. It is a typical Spanish fishing village, with white walls and streets (Pueblo Blanco). Conil's history dates back to Phoenician times, when they used it as a fishing port and today its main sources of income still include fishing, as well as agriculture and tourism. The town itself is perfectly situated between soft woodlands and golden stretches of coastline. It has a great atmosphere in the evening, with plenty of good tapas bars and excellent nightlife.

The Costa de la Luz gets the most sunshine in all of Spain, with Conil receiving over 3200 hours of sunshine a year. The intense blue skies and bright white sands can be dazzling, especially in winter with the low sun. (Don't forget your sunglasses!) This is a major attraction, especially for visitors coming from Northern Europe.

Temperatures fluctuate 10-15 degrees F in the course of a day in Conil. July and August are the hottest with daytime temperatures reaching the low 80s F (30 C) and cooling to the high 60s F (20 C) at night, with water temperatures in the low 70s F (25 C). December, January & February are the coldest with daytime and water temperatures reaching the low 60s F (15 C) and falling to around 50 F (10 C) at night. November and December see the most rain while June, July and August enjoy the most sun.

“Fantastic self-catering apartment.”

Reviewed 20 Aug 2013

The flat in Conil was absolutely perfect. Not only was it a five minute walk to the beach, it had incredible sea views from its roof terrace and an easy walk to the local shops. The flat itself was comfortable and kitted out with everything you would need for a self-catered holiday.

“Great Spot!”

Reviewed 10 May 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at "Piso Molino." (strange these flats have names?!?!) The kitchen was fully stocked and far above the rest of the rentals we've had in Spain. Great 180 degree views of the ocean from every room and the private roof deck was fantastic. It was easy to get to restaurants and to the beach - we parked the car and spent the weekend lying on the beach.
