Description from manager

Description

The Little House is a very romantic, typical Cotswold Cottage complete with wisteria and honeysuckle, set within a truly idyllic location deep within the Cotswold Hills. The cottage, which is over 200 years old and perched on a little lane in this delightful village, is very warm and cosy and offers a welcoming, homely feel inside. The old stone fireplace with its large wood burning stove along with the beams give the cottage real character and ambiance, adding to the sense that this is a 'real' rural retreat!

As well as the main bedroom, a comfortable sofa-bed in the second bedroom makes it possible for four people to stay*. To the front of the cottage is a pretty, little garden with terrace, all south-facing, making it perfect for relaxation - especially for an early morning cuppa . A truly classic cottage which is just perfect for a peaceful hideway.

The Cotswolds region

Compton Abdale

Compton Abdale is an absolutely classic Cotswold village set deep in the rolling hills. The village is one of those 'that time forgot' where there are many beautiful looking country houses, mixed with quirky Cotswold cottages all on little lanes which lead towards the village well! Sadly there is no pub or shop in the village, but fear not there is the Puesdown Inn which is about 1.5 miles away up the hill. There is a good selection of small shops in Northleach and it is certainly worth mentioning The Wheatsheaf in Northleach (3 miles) which is one of the Cotswolds finest pubs, regularly winning awards for its beers and food. We'd certainly recommend a visit even if it is a bit pricey.

Walking in this region is, almost, endless. The journey to Chedworth Roman Villa is very pretty, while the little villages that pepper this area are similarly gorgeous and worth visiting. The Inn at Fossebridge is a noteworth watering hole and one we would recommend!

Cheltenham is approx 15 mins drive away, has an excellent and wide selection of shops, including the attractive Montpellier area which has very attractive buildings. Cheltenham also hosts many festivals, the most famous of which is the Literary Festival in May each year.

Burford, Stow on the Wold, Cirencester and Bourton on the Water are all within a reasonable/short drive with their wealth of 'things to do'.

“Certainly Little”

Reviewed 24 Oct 2016

The house was little as the name suggests. However it had everything we needed. Well equipped for self catering, well heated and comfortable.
