The Alentejo region

Located in the well known 'Blue Coast' of Alentejo, this is the ideal destination for a journey along the western coastline of southern Portugal. Natural beaches, cliffs, well-preserved villages and the Atlantic Ocean are the marks of the Blue Coast. Here you can enjoy the nature at its best, the landscape, the gentle hills and dunes and many sand-streching beaches.

Plenty of things to see. Take a boat trip to see the dolphin community or spend a day at the Safari Park with your kids.

Nearby you have more than 50 km of continuous white sandy beaches.

Try the amazing dishes of Alentejo seaside, in Setubal or in many nearby small villages.

“Delightful and secluded traditional cottage, with everything you need for a relaxing holiday.”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2016

Four of us spent a relaxing fortnight in this lovely little cottage, tucked away down a track. The thick walls kept the house nice and cool in the heat and the breeze from the nearby coast kept the terrace and pool very comfortable. The house is equipped with everything you need and is to a high standard. The owner is very attentive and greeted us on arrival to explain everything. The nearby beaches are just wonderful and well serviced, all with lifeguards and facilities. Choose between surfing beaches by Melides, or the calm waters further north at Troia, where you can also take a trip to see the Dolphins. This is a very unspoilt region, kept very natural but with plenty to see and do, within easy reach of Lisbon. Eating out is very cheap in comparison to the UK and don't miss a visit to Tia Rose for the famous oven baked duck. If fish is your favourite, you'll be spoilt for choice and the larger markets in towns have the best fish restaurants close by. Be careful though, as portions are very generous! All in all a great success.

Hi Julie Many thanks! Take care Joao

“A great play to stay close to many beautiful beaches!”

The house was in a perfect position for us to explore the surrounding area with many beautiful beaches. The bool was a welcome addition to the house and the covered verandah provided a shady spot to enjoy lunch.

Hi Sarah Thanks for your input about the house and for staying at my home. Joao
