Location description from owner

The Brittany region

Le Courtil du Moulin is on the border of Ille-et-Vilaine and Cote d'Amour, not far into Brittany from Normandy

The emerald coast of Ille-et-Vilaine stretches from the bay of Mont St Michel to St Briac sur Mer linking the ports of Cancale, St Malo and Dinard.

The old walled town of St Malo is one of the area's great attractions. The rampart walls conceal a charming town known for good restaurants and pavement cafés.

The regional capital, Rennes has an elegant old quarter with a huge Saturday market. There are superb oysters from Cancale and excellent golf in Dinard.

Côtes-d'Armor lies on the North coast of Brittany. It has a rugged coastline with steep cliffs and is dotted with quaint, medieval towns.

Dinan sits on the river Rance with the houses of the old town clustered together behind the ramparts. The ancient ramparts and cobbled streets in the river port of Dinan are well worth a visit, Weekly market day is Thursday. Music fans head for St Brieuc in September for the popular Breton rock festival with a host of internationally renowned artists

Sample the fresh shellfish - the Côtes d’Armor is the largest European producer of scallops.

“The Superb Courtil du Moulin”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2012

The courtil Du Moulin is an ideal place to stay. Tucked away in the French countryside yet just around the corner from the motorway, giving easy access to St Malo and Dinard one way and Renes the other. The cottage it's self has everything you need for your french break. It's comfortable and welcoming. The bedrooms have plenty of storage/ hanging space, the kitchen is well equipped and the front room has lovely comfy chairs infront of a wood burning stove. The outside of Courtil Du Moulin is beautiful too with an outhouse stocked with childrens games, bikes, paddling pool etc. The huge garden has mature trees and shrubs and a lovely lawn with table and chairs so you can sit outside and relax. All in all just a fantastic place to stay.

“Fantastic well equipped cottage in peaceful location”

Reviewed 14 May 2012

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your wonderful cottage. The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed during our stay. The welcome pack of wine, bread, milk and butter was a great touch. Our 2 young children loved the huge garden and surroundings and felt very at home in the cottage. There were a large selection of games and activities for the garden. Thomas our 2 year old son loved the toy box, which was a fantastic added extra. The cottage sits in a very quiet location which was so peaceful in the evening, I'm amazed at how dark it got at night without any light pollution. There were many great tourist attractions just a short distance away from the cottage , you must visit the zoo whilst you are there we had such a fantastic time. We will be returning very soon. Thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable.

“A great rural location for getting round NW Brittany and Manche area”

Reviewed 12 Jan 2012

Le Courtil du Moulin provides a quite rural location for trips around the area, with the coast at St Malo and Dinard and the North Brittany coast being accessible, easily. Rennes is the nearest large city (if a little disappointing being largely a commercial and administrative centre). The house is on a quiet road with only a few passing vehicle, mainly agricultural. There are several small villages just a few kilometers away, providing convenience stores, bakers, butchers, small 'everyday' restaurants, post office, bar-tabac etc. We cycled to all of them and non are more than 20 minutes ride. Supermarkets are slightly further (30 minutes by car) but all close enough. The canal cycle-way and tow-path is about 20 bike ride away and you can hire canoes there. The house is of post war construction, probably dating from the 1960s or 70s and provides a simple but comfortable base. The essentials are all there but some are maybe in need of a little modernization (the fridge in particular)! The lounge is comfortable; the kitchen (corridor style) has the essentials and we cooked many meals there. The three bedrooms are simple but comfortable and the single bathroom/toilet/bath-shower is adequate. The garden is excellent, large and a relaxing place to spend time. The garden is gated but the usual care would need to be taken with young children. Part of the garden is un-fenced down to a small stream. We spent three weeks (with teenagers!) at Le Courtil du Moulin and had a very enjoyable holiday. The area provides plenty to do with the combination of towns such as St Malo and Dinan and the beautiful rural surrounds, with the coast not far away.
