As glamorous as the movies, this picture perfect and super-stylish Bath- stone manor house for 16 (and sleeping up to 20) is a dream country home set on 98 acres. Only a 10 minute drive from the centre of Bath and poised above a picturesque valley, surrounded by lawns and terraces, this private spacious home with fabulous interiors, is fit for the stars.

Week Farm Manor is an idyllic 17th century manor house. Its handsome frame evident in original flagstone floors, deep window reveals, ancient oak beams, warm polished stone, rich oak floors and elegant carved stone fireplaces and staircase. Large traditional rooms have been refreshed using contemporary natural fabrics in linen, sea grass and soft blues. Every room appears light, airy, beautifully presented and immaculately furnished.

The Kitchen

The entrance is very stylish and an exciting prelude to this beautiful house. But let's begin at the heart of every country house, the kitchen, which is vast and yet exudes great warmth and character with original flagstone floors, oak beams, deep window recesses and French doors onto a sweeping terrace. Along one side, is an impressively long dining table to seat 14, (with additional seating if required) punctuated by a large elegant dresser. On the other side is a huge Aga with a smart shaker style fitted kitchen, topped with slabs of black granite. At the centre is a giant island of solid wood, with storage and electric oven. The Aga has 2 ovens, a warming drawer and two hot plates. Alongside is an electric hob, a large fridge and separate freezer. A separate utility has laundry facilities and is smartly fitted with rows of extra storage cupboards and contains a wine cooler, microwave, washing machine and separate dryer, with the addition of an airing cupboard for laundry. Doors off the utility lead to a copious boot room with hanging rail and shelves and also a pretty cloakroom with hand basin and WC.

The Ground Floor

It's a joy to open the double doors into a sunny south-facing morning room overlooking terraces, lawns and clipped box. A large original fireplace is stacked with logs and kindling for chilly evenings. Two deep button-backed sofas piled with cushions seats 8. On the other side is a TV and DVD media unit with a couple of plush tub chairs with footstools to seat 2.

A picture lined corridor lit by a glass skylight leads to the striking entrance lobby, with doors leading into a formal living room and library. The stunning living room has a large stone wood burning fireplace with carved pillars, and mirrored alcoves. There are two large sofas to seat 6 and two leather wing backed chairs for another 2, antique coffee table and bowls of orchids. A handsome library with elegant ornaments has a TV and DVD, double sofa bed, easy chair and another working fire to snug beside with a good book.

The Bedrooms

On the Ground floor beside the kitchen is a gorgeous sage green and red double bedroom with a luxuriously upholstered 5' bed, a large antique style wardrobe and dressing table and easy chair.

On the first floor the Master bedroom is gloriously elegant and spacious, with two south-facing window seats looking over manicured grounds. Decorated in a similar style as the ground floor with oak floors, sea grass, linen upholstery and pale blue accents, it has a 6' bed, a chest of drawers, a sofa to seat 2 and an easy chair. An original stone arch leads down to a lavish dressing room with a double antique style wardrobe and dressing table.

The large indulgent, travertine tiled en-suite is in period style with a free-standing Bath (with shower handset), a separate shower, a large hand-basin, easy chair and shelving stacked with fluffy towels.

The Second large bedroom is sumptuous with an upholstered 5' bed, a large antique style wardrobe, dressing table and alcoves with shelves. There is an original cast iron decorative fireplace and a window seat overlooking the south facing grounds.

A charming cream and white traditional bathroom under the eaves is tiled in travertine and has a bath, a vanity unit set in an alcove with hand basin and WC.

An adjacent wing on the First Floor has three more smart traditional styled bedrooms and is accessed from another staircase (or via the master bedroom)

A picture lined lobby with exotic botanical prints leads to the first spacious twin room. In cream and pale blue with sturdy painted furniture with oak tops, it has two 3' beds (which can be zipped together to become a superking size bed), a large semi-wardrobe with drawers under, a little dressing table and pin-striped tub chair.

The second large twin room in cream and pale green is similar, with two 3' beds (which can be zipped together to become a superking size bed) and a sturdy wardrobe with shelves under, and a tub chair.

There is a pretty cream travertine tiled bathroom with a bath (with shower over), hand basin, sparkling mirrors, storage shelves and WC.

The final bedroom, handsomely dressed in pale tartan, is a long spacious double with windows on two sides with lovely views of the valley. There is a 5' king bed at one end, and a large wardrobe, small chest of drawers, double sofa-bed and easy chair at the other.

A large cream and travertine tiled en-suite bathroom has a bath (with shower over), a hand-basin and WC with a deep window reveal providing lots of shelf space.

The second floor bedroom is a fabulous loft style room, with oak beams and clever dividing walls that subtly conceal a dressing room, another cosy bedroom and a large bathroom, whilst retaining the full length and breadth of the impressive roof. There are two 3' beds that can zip and link to become a 6' double and a large chest of drawers with a TV and DVD, a sofa to seat 2 and ottoman. Semi-concealed behind a papered room divide of green and gold wisteria, is a large open wardrobe with shelving, a dressing table and easy chair. In one of the corners of this room concealed by a partial wall is a pretty room with 3' single bed plus an additional small single sofa-bed allowing the loft room to sleep up to 4 guests.

The spacious contemporary en-suite bathroom has a free-standing bath (with shower handset), double hand basins, long shelves for storage and a WC.

The Games Rooms

The spacious barn now has the aura of a gentleman's club. It has been transformed as an indulgent games room and living room, and can be utilised as a guest suite. Two black leather chesterfield sofas to seat 6 are in front of a large TV with DVD. A large dresser holds a selection of games, with the addition of an old favourite, table football. A double sofa bed sits beside a wonderfully crafted travelling case that doubles as a mini wardrobe. A useful kitchenette has a sink, small fridge, kettle, toaster and storage cupboard. There is a large contemporary travertine tiled bathroom, with a large walk-in shower, hand basin and WC.

Outside, on a raised deck with lovely views all around, is a huge sociable 12 seater hot tub, big enough for everyone.

The Grounds

Week Farm Manor is set on the slopes of the lush green Coombe Hay Valley with lovely views of surrounding hills, woods and grazed pastures. There is the merry sound of a bubbling brook at the bottom of sloping fields. The grounds have lawns, terraces, walled gardens and formal gardens of clipped box and shrubs. High stone walls with buttresses flank the side of the house, enfolding the barn and log stores. The earliest settlement here was in Roman times when the southern slopes were planted with vines. Beginning as a cottage, the house expanded over the centuries to become an elegant manor house. It is rumored that King Charles 2nd stayed here for a week in 1651 whilst on the run from Oliver Cromwell.

The Somerset region

The attractions of the World Heritage City of Bath, are well-known, but Bath is also a perfect base from which to explore the picturesque West Country of England. Located close to the M4 and M5 motorways, 1.5 hours by train from London and just over half an hour from Bristol International Airport, Bath is surrounded by several designated areas of outstanding natural beauty and many of the region's attractions can be reached within a short journey time from the city.

One firm family favourite is Longleat, owned by the Marquis of Bath and set in 900 acres of landscaped parkland. Longleat Safari Park is home to the famous Lions of Longleat and a full day of fun is guaranteed, as this attraction boasts not just the safari, but a maze, adventure park, Jungle Express and much more.

Heading slightly further west is the cathedral city of Wells with its narrow streets, abundance of historic buildings such as the moated Bishop's Palace and lively twice-weekly market. In the same direction you will find Cheddar Caves and Gorge where the world-renowned Cheddar cheese is made and the caves of Wookey Hole, home of the legendary Witch of Wookey – great for a rainy day underground adventure!

En route from Bath to Wells, you should not miss the mystical Glastonbury Tor, one of the most spiritual sites in the UK. Steeped in history and legend, the climb to the top is well worth the effort for the views across the Somerset Levels.

World famous Glastonbury Festival needs little introduction, however, it's always worth checking out what's on at The Royal Bath & West Showground on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet which hosts anything from antiques fairs to The Royal Bath & West Show.

To the south east of Bath lies Stonehenge, a majestic stone circle that has been the subject of much speculation ranging from how it was built to ceremonial significance. Audio tours are available on entry and it retains its magic whatever the season, but particularly around the summer and winter solstices. Around 25 miles away is Avebury, considered by many to be the most impressive of all remaining pre-historic earthworks in Europe.

For outdoor enthusiasts there is a wealth of walks, cycle rides and boating opportunities with cycle and canoe hire readily available. Bath is an ideal base for sporting aficionados, whether as spectators or participants when attending events such as rugby or football matches, Badminton Horse Trials, Castle Combe Circuit or perhaps taking a trip down to the coast where you will find Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, where the sailing events for the 2012 Olympics were held.

Last but by no means least, neighbouring Bristol with its iconic suspension bridge, floating harbour, SS Great Britain, vibrant street life and home to famous street artist, Banksy, should not be missed.

Combe Hay

There are many delightful country walks and cycle routes around Coombe Hay, Wellow and Midford and with lovely country pubs on route.

There is so much to do in the area and Wendy from Zest concierge can organize horse trekking, archery, Clay Pigeon Shooting, Fishing, Nature Farm and History walks.

Pubs and Shops

The Wheatsheaf (01225 833504) is a gastro-pub in Coombe Hay. It's about 30 minutes walking distance. Book ahead, as it is very popular.

The Fox and Badger (01225 832293) in Wellow is a good country Pub.

The George Inn (01373 834224) is an historic 700year old inn, with cosy bars and ancient galleried courtyard. It is a short drive to Norton St Philip.

The Inn at Freshford (01225 722250) is a pretty country pub in a lovely village. It is a short drive or could be incorporated to a country walk.

The New Inn at Lower Westwood (01225 863123) is a short drive past Freshford, towards Bradford on Avon and is a nice place to stop during a walk.

The Beautiful Georgian city of Bath is very near and has many historic venues to visit including the Roman Baths, The Royal Crescent, the Bath Abbey and the Assembly rooms. Enjoy the hot mineral waters of the Thermae Spa, see a show at The Theatre Royal or The Komedia. There are plenty of great shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, museums and galleries to visit. You can enjoy a day out at Stonehenge, Longleat, Stourhead or Cheddar Gorge, all less than an hour away by car.
