Description from owner

Description

Cumstoun Lodge is a genuine log cabin on a small private site. It stands in its own woodland garden and features just about everything you could need for a relaxing holiday or as a centre for an active break. It sleeps six in three bedrooms; one double, one twin, one with bunk beds – see the Lodge Layout page for more detail.

There is a comfortable open-plan living area, well-equipped kitchen, spacious outside area with seating and BBQ, plenty of parking and safe space for small people to play. The countryside is right outside your window with the neighbours including deer, red squirrels, badgers, buzzards & other birds.

The beach at Sandyhills Bay (which welcomes dogs), the forest, golf, shop, swimming, restaurant/bar and stables are all within holiday walking distance and the town of Dalbeattie or Colvend village are both just a short drive away.

It’s a great place from which to explore the historic Galloway region, or just sit back, enjoy the view

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Colvend, on the Solway coast, in a lovely unspoilt corner of Scotland, is an Area of Natural Beauty and with a year round mild climate provides the perfect location whatever your interests may be.

Sandyhills beach is a short walk away, while the rock pools at Rockcliffe are just two minutes by car. The coastal walks offer incredible views across the Solway Firth to the Lake District.

The picturesque village of Kippford on the Scottish Riveria, with its small boats and yachts offers a selection of restaurants and pubs serving local produce and “real” local ales and it is only a five minute drive away.

In addition the local towns of Dumfries, Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright and Wigtown offer a wealth of special interest.

Colvend

The region is currently the most heavily forested in the country and these extensive woodlands are central to a wide variety of attractions and activities. The Red Deer Range, The Red Kite Trail and an amazing selection of ranger-led wildlife and natural history events, family days and courses are just part of what they offer all year round. Not to mention the superb forest walks and top grade mountain biking, with several of the Seven Stanes trails within striking distance.

“Excellent well appointed lodge”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2013

Cumstoun lodge is an excellent well appointed lodge in a wonderful quiet location. The neighbours make this place special - an inquisitive and ever hungry badger, robins and some very active red squirrels. Thoroughly recommend
