Location description from owner

The Occitanie region

This area is often referred to as ‘ The Languedoc’, the long Mediterranean coastline of uninterrupted sandy beaches. Few French regions are more stepped in history than Languedoc. Home to excellent wines such as Corbiere, Minervios, Cotes du Rousillon and the regional wines Banyuls.

The region has a vast range of scenery from sweeping mountains to gently rolling hills and is noted for its relaxed pace of life. A popular area for walkers and if you wish to explore further afield by car Perpignan; Nimes; Montpellier and Barcelona are within your reach.

Collioure

Collioure, an idyllic gem on the rocky coastline, is situated in the very south of France, 15 miles to the Spanish border. This picturesque town has everything you need to make your holiday an unforgettable experience, unspoiled nature, sunshine and various leisure activities.

This unique little town, that attracted the presence of the most famous painters of our century, has a beautiful "Catalan"; harbour. It is sheltered by a quiet bay where the rocky foothills of the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. Swimming from one of the many small coves and several sand and pebble beaches in crystal-clear water.

Palm trees line the curving beach while in the next bay, behind the houses, the gently rising hills are covered with vines and olive trees. The attractive quaint pedestrianised streets, lined with pink and beige washed house, are home to many art galleries, interesting shops, restaurants and bars. Regular markets are held on Wednesdays and Sundays during the season.

“Fantastic”

Reviewed 7 Oct 2014

A great little apartment (it is little) but absolutely fine for a family of four (our kids were 9 and 7). The two-minute walk to the beach for early morning swims, together with the magnificent views of the Pyrenees and the hilltop fortress from the balcony made the fortnight. Collioure is a picturesque port, and is a great place to base oneself to explore the northern beaches, the Pyrenees to the south and the stunning villages tucked away in the foothills. Highly recommended.

“Charming and convenient flat with one of the best locations in Collioure”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2013

We enjoyed a fantastic week in Collioure. We selected the flat due to its convenient location and it met all our expectations. Fantastic view towards the hills and the beautiful fort St-Elme, comfortable, clean and well equipped. The bathroom was modernized and very nice. The many books and CDs available made us feel like home. Parking the car was convenient. We enjoyed as always to walk around in the hills and the wine yards , the restaurants and the swimming in the sea. The flat was lovely with a nice atmosphere and everything was perfectly prepared. The wine and the flowers when arriving was a nice 'touch'. We already feel like coming back!

“Peaceful haven with captivating views.”

Reviewed 26 Apr 2013

The apartment is a real gem and, despite its delightful proximity to the seafront, an absolute haven of peace. We never bored of sitting on the balcony, gazing dreamily at the hills beyond. (The pics on the site are a very accurate representation of the apt). As well as exploring the myriad of good restaurants nearby, we also visited the colourful market to stock up on local produce and made good use of the small but well-equipped kitchen. Indeed, we are carrying a reminder around our waistlines of all the lovely breads, cheeses and tarte tatin we indulged in. Collioure is beautiful, friendly town and really worth an extended visit. You may even find yourself winding down and throwing off the speed-freak shackles of your city nature. If you're feeling more energetic , it is also a fantastic base from which to explore further afield and many easy day trips can be made from there. While a car may be helpful, it's definitely not essential. Public transport is effective and cheap in this part of the world. We were so glad that Peter and Alison were able, with minimum fuss, to accommodate a very last minute booking on our part, because we would've been hard pressed to find a more perfect little place to hang out for a week.

“Delightful apartment with wonderful views”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2013

This is a truly delightful apartment situated perfectly in Collioure. It is beautifully presented as the photos suggest and the owners have thought of everything for guests including basic supplies in the kitchen such as tea, coffee, milk and other food items. The rooms are very comfortable, light and airy and there is a lovely bathroom. The best feature of all is the south facing balcony with stunning views. We have no hesitation in recommending; we had a wonderful stay and will certainly return.

“marvellous south facing balcony with splendid views of mountains, close to seafront of gem of a Med. seaside village”

Bright, quiet, comfortable; ideal for restful holiday in this lovely place.Balcony being on the third floor meant that the view was clear of the surrounding buildings and it was not shaded. The stairs to the flat provided brilliant exercise!

“You will remember this holiday for all your life...”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2012

For those who like lots of reviews and hesitate to book something with just 1 or 2 reviews - please don't. After having visited the lovely apartment that Peter and Alison offer and having seen 62 (!!!) reviews in their guest book you shouldn't hesitate a second. The apartment is exactly as advertised, when you walk in you'll have a feeling that you've been waited for, There will be flowers, wine, milk and welcome pack with all the required details, map, brochures to make your visit as pleasant as you'd like it to be. It was our first visit to Collioure and it was the best holiday we had for many years.. The small town is so gorgeous and there is so much character in it, people are very nice.. Views are incredible! The little comfortable beach is just 3 mins away and when you swim you can't stop looking around and enjoy the views. In spite of the fact that we normally prefer just a beach holiday in summer, this time we have walked around a lot, as wanted to see as much as possible of the surroundings. You can read about Collioure and see some pictures by searching but believe us it will be more beautiful. The description of the apartment and the location matches 100% with what you have already read. Hope this helps in your decision making? Also hoping that next year the apartment will be free at the time we'll be visiting :-) Thank you so much once again, Peter and Alison, for a lovely time we had and for making our stay so lovely. Wishing you many-many guests! Thank you very much.Nina

Thank you Nina for your very kind review of our apartment and so pleased you enjoyed your stay in Collioure. Peter & Alison
