Edinburgh and the surrounding area provide wonderful opportunities for holidaymakers. As will as Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood which are connected by The Royal Mile, there are numerous art galleries, museums, Our Dynamic Earth as well as international rugby at Murrayfield. There are several golf courses within the city with East Lothian courses such as Muirfield, Archerfield and Luffness a short drive away, the Old Course at St Andrews is just over an hour away by car. There are good beaches at North Berwick (which also has the Scottish Sea Bird Centre) and Gullane in East Lothian with more beaches in Fife, across the Forth Bridges. Edinburgh has many parks and gardens to enjoy (including a wonderful Royal Botanic Garden) There is a pleasant walkway which follows Edinburgh's (rather small) river, the Water of Leith, from the suburb of Balerno to the sea at Leith. The Pentland Hills provide great walking with some superb views over the city and its surrounding and are home to the Snowsports Centre on the dry-ski slope at Hillend.

Colinton

The flat is situated in the Colinton area of Edinburgh, which retains many of the features and ambience of a village. There are good local shops, a bank, post-office and several pubs and restaurants. It is around 8 Km from the city centre with an exceptionally good bus service (Lothian Buses bus numbers 10 and 16).
