Description

Fairlaw Garden Cottage, is a light & very spacious house, set in the grounds of the owners property on a working farm surrounded by beautiful countryside and with far reaching views. It is just a few miles from Coldingham Bay, one of Scotlands loveliest beaches and makes the perfect base for a holiday in the beautiful Scottish Borders. Great walking, cycling, bird watching at St Abbs Head, golf courses, beaches and castles are all within easy reach and the city of Edinburgh is less than an hour away.

Garden Cottage has its own private garden with barbecue & eating area and a separate lawn with, climbing frame & slide. A large paddock is adjacent - perfect for ball games & running about! The house was converted from old farm buildings to create this delightful "upside down house" offering roomy & comfortable accommodation with plenty of space for everyone to relax in peace. It is much larger inside that it looks! The large beamed kitchen/dinning

Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The Scottish Borders is the most beautiful, unspoilt gateway to Scotland. With a spectacular coastline, gentle undulating hills, and pretty Borders towns. With a rich history of skirmishes in the Borderlands the area boasts many castles and ancient battlegrounds.

The pace of life is slow & relaxed, however Edinburgh is less than an hours away.

Coldingham

This area really has so much on offer for all ages & tastes! Be it walking, surfing, beach combing, golfing, bird watching, visiting castles & historic houses to mention just a few activities.

If it is walking you are after we have wonderful Coastal walks . THE SOUTHERN UPLAND WAY, BERWICKSHIRE COASTAL PATH, ST CUTHBERTS WAY, BORDERS ABBEY WAY to mention but a few.. Every September there is a week long FESTIVAL OF WALKING led by a the Countryside Ranger Service with a selection of walks for all abilities & ages.

We pride ourselves on our beaches. some of the best surfing beaches on the East Coast are within striking distance, Coldingham Bay & Pease Bay. St. Vedas at Coldingham Bay has a great surf school and a hire shop for all the equipment you will need. Diving can be done from Eyemouth or St. Abbs, dive schools at both places. Learn how to wakeboard at Foxlake, Dunbar

Stroll up to St Abbs Head ( a National Trust Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and watch hundreds of seabirds diving, nesting . In the summer months whales have been seen from here too. Guided walks are led by the Ranger which are well worth doing.

For action packed fun for the kids why not go to East Links Family Farm, Dunbar, to see a selection of animals, ride the steam train throughout he woods and spy the lamas & highland cows! take a ride on the go carts or mini JCBs, it also has a four level fortress with slides, ball blast area & climbing wall. A great day out. Or for a trip back in time take a ride on the old steam train at Heatherslaw light railway, Ford & Etal.

The Borders is home to some stunning stately homes: Paxton House is one of Britains' finest Georgian houses set in 80 acres of gardens. Check out the silver staircase at Manderston House. for castles take a look at Floors Castle in the heart of Kelso looking over the river Tweed, home to the Duke & Duchess of Roxburghe.
