Very Good

“Totally chilled”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2018

Just back home from a lovely relaxing few days. The location is fantastic close to major road links, Coldingham with a it’s fab beach and the lovely St Abbs easily reached along the costal path, yet far enough away to take in the scenery and local wildlife. The cottage has a cosy yet chic feel, with a great garden, and a private patio with a hot tub! Great that it is also dog friendly with walks on the doorstep and an enclosed garden so they don’t take themselves off on them! We will most certainly be returning soon.

“Lovely stay”

Reviewed 24 Jan 2018

Enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay here with my partner and our 2 children. Cottage was beautiful with everything you could need. Handy location for visiting coldingham bay, Eyemouth and Berwick. Village with pubs about a 30 minute walk or 5 minute drive. We enjoyed the hot tub, could do with a bit more lighting for in the dark (we used the torches on our phones) but apart from that everything was fab! Would definitely book again.

“Lovely little cottage”

We have just been to the Whitfield Bothy Cottage and could not have asked for more. Lovely cottage, lovely setting in a wonderful part of the UK. Owner too was lovely as we were welcomed with a welcome basket that had the essentials to start our week off including a chilled bottle of wine.

“Fabulous Cottage in Stunning Location”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2017

Lovely little cottage in very private rural location but within easy distance of amenities. All the home comforts you could ask for on a short break. Lovely welcome hamper on arrival and bottle of wine was a totally unexpected gesture. Emma the owner was lovely and couldn't have been more helpful in offering tips on things to do and the local area. Thoroughly enjoyed our break and hope to return soon.

Owner's reply: So very glad you all enjoyed your break at the Bothy. Look forward to welcoming you back soon. Bw's Emma

Next time we will return with our labradors too! Good location - central to places like Berwick, sea houses and holy island 5* recommended

“Great break to celebrate my wife's 50th Birthday”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2017

Gorgeous cottage in stunning surroundings. the cottage has everything you could possibly need for a break away. Very clean, modern layout with private hot tub and changing facilities with private enclosed gardens. Based in the country with loads of lovely walks on your doorstep. Coldingham Bay is only a 5 min drive away with stunning views and gorgeous small, dog friendly beach, with access to coastal walks. The welcome pack from the owner which included a bottle of wine, was a lovely surprise and much appreciated.

Owner's reply: So glad you enjoyed a special birthday celebration at the Bothy. And hope to welcome you all back soon. Bw's Emma

This cottage was absolutely stunning, great place to relax and forgot about everything. The hottub was great spent a few days in it. Everything you need is in the cottage all you need to take is yourself and food. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Will definitely go back and will recommend to others. Had a lovely morning watching sum rise at St abbs harbour and seen about a dozen or more dolphins

Owner's reply: So glad you had a lovely time. It's a very special part of the country in my opinion. That pod of dolphins has stuck by the coast between st Abbs and coldingham for over a year and a half and are stunning. We saw them in the summer with juvenile's when out on the rib boat trip close up and it was amazing! Hopefully we. An welcome you back again. Bw's emma.

“Outstanding stay in a fabulous cottage and stunning location”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2015

Whitfield Bothy Cottage is in my opinion an outstanding property and well worth a trip. Emma's attention to detail is faultless, even down to a very considerate and generous welcome pack on arrival (including treats for adults, the children and even our dog). The cottage is cosy, but very cleverly designed to maximise its potential, and there are most amenities there for your use. My only concern before our holiday was the lack of tumble dryer - but I needn't have worried - the combination of a wood burning stove and central heating meant getting laundry dry was of no issue. The location of the cottage is out of this world and there is so much to explore both within the immediate locality of the cottage and also further afield. A trip to Coldingham Bay is highly recommended (it is walkable from the cottage, and well worth doing so). St Abbs, Eyemouth to see the seals in the harbour, and Berwick are also definitely worth a visit. Absolutely loved every second of our time at the Bothy. The only improvement I could see would be possibly putting a chest of drawers or some form of storage on the mezzanine level to store the kids clothes so not all clothing had to put in the one bedroom, and there is certainly enough room on the landing to do so. The lack of this is not a criticism - there is more than enough storage space in the bedroom, and this is only a suggestion (to allow my kids to have been more independent when it came to getting ready in a morning!).

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and Hogmany in Scotland! I don't know why I hadn't thought of putting a narrow chest of drawers in the landing area. Probably because our girls use the cupboard in the bathroom. But it's an excellent idea so will be on the lookout! Hope to see you all again in the future. Bw's emma x

What a delightful few days we have had in this little gem. We had a lovely welcome from the owner who was very helpful. The cottage has been so tastefully decorated and very well appointed and it is very cozy with the log burning stove. We had a couple of lovely walks down to the beautiful beach and then relaxed in the hot tub. We feel thoroughly spoiled and cannot wait to return to this amazing find.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review we are very glad you enjoyed your time at the bothy. Hope to see you again in the future.
