- Very Good
This cottage was absolutely stunning, great place to relax and forgot about everything. The hottub was great spent a few days in it. Everything you need is in the cottage all you need to take is yourself and food. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch. Will definitely go back and will recommend to others. Had a lovely morning watching sum rise at St abbs harbour and seen about a dozen or more dolphins
So glad you had a lovely time. It's a very special part of the country in my opinion. That pod of dolphins has stuck by the coast between st Abbs and coldingham for over a year and a half and are stunning. We saw them in the summer with juvenile's when out on the rib boat trip close up and it was amazing! Hopefully we. An welcome you back again. Bw's emma.
“Outstanding stay in a fabulous cottage and stunning location”
Whitfield Bothy Cottage is in my opinion an outstanding property and well worth a trip. Emma's attention to detail is faultless, even down to a very considerate and generous welcome pack on arrival (including treats for adults, the children and even our dog). The cottage is cosy, but very cleverly designed to maximise its potential, and there are most amenities there for your use. My only concern before our holiday was the lack of tumble dryer - but I needn't have worried - the combination of a wood burning stove and central heating meant getting laundry dry was of no issue. The location of the cottage is out of this world and there is so much to explore both within the immediate locality of the cottage and also further afield. A trip to Coldingham Bay is highly recommended (it is walkable from the cottage, and well worth doing so). St Abbs, Eyemouth to see the seals in the harbour, and Berwick are also definitely worth a visit. Absolutely loved every second of our time at the Bothy. The only improvement I could see would be possibly putting a chest of drawers or some form of storage on the mezzanine level to store the kids clothes so not all clothing had to put in the one bedroom, and there is certainly enough room on the landing to do so. The lack of this is not a criticism - there is more than enough storage space in the bedroom, and this is only a suggestion (to allow my kids to have been more independent when it came to getting ready in a morning!).
Thank you for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and Hogmany in Scotland! I don't know why I hadn't thought of putting a narrow chest of drawers in the landing area. Probably because our girls use the cupboard in the bathroom. But it's an excellent idea so will be on the lookout! Hope to see you all again in the future. Bw's emma x
I had the most relaxing xmas holiday ever it was what I planned and more . Location was great. Amenities are fantastic just bring your clothes.
Many thanks for your lovely review. So glad you had a lovely Xmas! Emma
What a delightful few days we have had in this little gem. We had a lovely welcome from the owner who was very helpful. The cottage has been so tastefully decorated and very well appointed and it is very cozy with the log burning stove. We had a couple of lovely walks down to the beautiful beach and then relaxed in the hot tub. We feel thoroughly spoiled and cannot wait to return to this amazing find.
Thank you for your lovely review we are very glad you enjoyed your time at the bothy. Hope to see you again in the future.
