Casa do Mar is an independent house within the property is situated in the highest point in Rock's village, a typical Portuguese village up on Sintra Mountains.

The village is situated in an unexplored area, peaceful and calm. Penedo is located within Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, between Almoçageme and Necklaces villages. Penedo is the highest village of Sintra Mountains with privileged view over the landscape of the Natural Park.

This is an ideal place for travelers who are looking for a place far from hassle, in contact with nature. Its privileged location allows people to reach important touristic points in a short period of time, from the coast (4 km) to the city (35 km) The area surrounded the property is ideal for lovers of nature: you can just walk by forest's paths or, for people with a good level of fitness, ride the bike in the jagged landscape of the mountain (some bike circuits are close).

The house has a comfortable bedroom with a doubled bed. The living/dining area has an open and spacious kitchen. The living area has a sofa that can be used as a single or double bed. The kitchen is fully equipped (coffee machine, juice machine, dish-washer, washing and dry machine, fridge, microwave-machine, etc.).

The house is comfortably/totally equipped for a pleasant stay.

The house is located on one of the highest point of the property, with a stunning view over the sea and Sintra's landscape. Each corner of the garden has a unique view over the sea or the hills. Even when you open the front door or windows of the house, you face the ocean or small villages at the distance. It has a spacious terrace, exclusive for guests, ideal to relax and enjoy the view. The property has two dogs and two cats.

The garden is divided in two areas, connected by the gate, both with barbecues. One of the gardens is private for guests; so in case you have a well-behaved pet as well, you could bring it with your family. The second garden is shared with the owners, include a swimming-pool with view over the coast (from the beach of Apples to Ericeira), Sintra Mountains (Palacio da Pena and Moorish Castle) and some typical villages. All water, used at the property (houses, swimming-pool, etc.), is supplied by an old mineral water spring inside the property. Sintra is also known by its mineral water fountains and springs, where people that live in big urban areas/cities come to supply themselves with fresh mineral water to drink. The pool is cleaned by a system of copper electrodes in order not to alter the properties of the mineral water and avoid skin problems/allergies more common nowadays because of the excessive use of chloride to treat water.

The house is ideal for couples or families up to four (2 adults 2 children &). For bigger groups, you have the possibility of renting another house with identical characteristics, just next to Casa da Serra (See my other properties: ' House of the sea "), or even a house 100 meters from the property (see my other properties: ' typical village house»).

We strongly recommend hiring a car as there are many places to visit within a range of 40 km: UNESCO World Heritage center: Cultural landscape of Sintra (include the town of Sintra, Palacio da Pena, Moorish Castle, Setiais Palace, Palacio de Monserrate, Quinta das Regaleiras, Capuchos convent, etc.)-8 kms trough Sintra forest's roads. Beautiful beaches: Adraga 4 km; Praia Grande beach 5.5 km; The beach 7 km Beach of Apples Acute 12 km, Magoito 14 km; 14 km, winch etc. Important points: Cabo da Roca (the westernmost extent of continental Europe) 8 km, 18 km, Cascais Estoril 20 km, 32 km, Mafra Lisbon 35 km, etc. Activities available in the area: Golf, Horse riding, Trekking, surfing, windsurfing, etc. Parking is available inside the property but if you prefer, you can leave the car just outside such as many locals/visitors. Kindly note that the access to the property is made through an unpaved road with inclination. The normal car passes without difficulties.

In Rock village you just find one for basic grocery shops. For bigger shops, the nearest grocery is in Almoçageme, at about 2 km distance. In the area are local markets with fresh vegetables and fruits, wines and all other supplies.

During Summer nights, kermises are organized in most villages of the area. We are available for anything you need during your stay. Feel free to contact us if you have any question about the house, the machines, the area, beaches, historical places, etc. We live in the main house of the property. We like people to feel like home. We expect you to treat the house as you would treat your own place. Please contact us for any question you may have RULES OF THE HOUSE 1. The property is not recommended for family with children under 5 years old, because of the configuration of the garden in several levels (stairs, terraces).

2. Children must, always, be in company of an adult for their own safety.

3. Well well-behaved pets are considered. In this case, before booking, ask if there is, at the moment, another guests ' pet at the property.

4. Check-in after 3:00 pm (3:00 pm) and Check-out before 12:00 (twelve); This rule becomes flexible if there is no other guest arriving or leaving.

5. Smoke is only allowed outside.
