Description

Visitors to Cliburn Weigh Office will find that, whilst this historical railway building has been completely modernised, it has been tastefully renovated to retain its charm and many of the original features and characteristics.

Its secluded location is ideal for those wishing to relax and get away from it all, those wanting to be closer to nature, or those wanting to get out and about.

Nature is on your doorstep, with visitors often seeing the local red squirrels and deers from Whinfell Forest or Salter Wood. At night little light pollution means that it is perfect for stargazing and if that wasn't enough, a short drive and we are walking up one of the many fells or playing in one of the lakes.

Location description from owner

The England region

Lying with the Pennines to the east and the Lake District Fells to the west, the beautiful Eden Valley, around the River Eden is a mix of lush green countryside, traditional towns and attractive sandstone villages some dating back to Viking times. To the south are the peaceful Howgill Fells, a favourite of Wainwright.
Add to this the most scenic railway in England, the Settle to Carlisle line, runs through the Eden Valley, with stations at Appleby and Kirkby Stephen.

Cliburn

With the lakes and fells of the Lake District only a short drive and the market towns of Alston, Appleby, Penrith, Brough, Keswick and Kirkby Stephen nearby, visitors should always be able to find something of interest. Or your stay may be specific if you plan to visit the area to attend one of the growing number of events in the area, like the Appleby Horse Fair, Kendal Calling, Lowther Game and Country Fair or Potfest
