Location description from owner
The East Anglia region
Situated on the North Norfolk Coast this area is an area of outstanding natural beauty, offering a wealth of different beaches to visit and all the fun that comes with them. This well established exclusive enclave has masses of enchanting villages along the coast and bustling market towns all with interesting shops and galleries, wine bars and restaurants. Local produce including fish and crab is available everywhere. There are plenty of charming pubs, some offering the finest food. The world famous Blakeney Point, with its white sands visible from the garden is where you will find there is nowhere better to be! East Anglia is notoriously dryer than the rest of the country and Cley, being where it is is often degrees warmer than just a few miles in land. The place is enchanted with out doubt.
Cley Next the Sea
The delightful village of Cley, at the mouth of the Glaven Valley has narrow streets lined with pretty flint cottages. There are two pubs both serving food, an award wining delicatessen as well as smoke house and an art gallery, pottery and second hand book shop. There are two cafes, windmill, contemporary bird centre and a magnificent medieval church. With surrounding reed beds and salt flats adding to the unrivalled charm of the area. Less than a mile away are equally charming seaside villages with their own personality and 3 miles inland is the fine town of Holt no less! full of boutiques, restaurants and wine bars. Book shops, antique emporiums and plenty more.

“Stunning house in a magical location”
Barn Drift is a beautiful and thoughtfully converted house, perfect for large family or other groups but you wouldn't feel swamped if you were a smaller group. It is decorated with such style with every creature comfort included! All the bedrooms are stunning with fabulous bathrooms and the communal areas are generous and well equipped. The area is wonderful, with the sea so close and plenty of gorgeous towns and villages within easy reach. All in all I could not recommend Barn Drift more highly.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind review, we hope you will be back soon. Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
Barn Drift is an extraordinary mixture of very stylish and elegant but practical and hard wearing. You can holiday in a dreamlike state here,(it really is ridiculously beautiful, set in rural farmland with a view to the sea and a path through the woods, and no neighbours!)) and at the same time know the kids/ teenagers are having the time of their lives without damaging the bespoke furniture. There is masses of space inside and out, the high ceiling in the dining area is particularly beautiful. The same high standards and care have been applied to everything from the towels to the tableware. Although you feel like you are in your own world here the joys of the Norfolk market towns, beaches and golf courses are all within easy reach . It is a very special place and one where when you go, you really do feel like you have had a holiday.
Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your fabulous review! We hope you will be back soon, best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“We'd come back anytime!”
The whole family loved our stay at Barn Drift. Even though we were a large party of varying ages, we never felt cramped in the very spacious rooms. My teenage son and his friends really enjoyed the large gardens to let off steam in and the layout of the house enabled the grandparents to enjoy some peace as well. As the main cook(!), I was very impressed with the extensive range of kitchen equipment. For such a large property it was great that there were so many luxurious bathrooms and the hot water never seemed to run out when we returned from beautiful walks on the nearby marsh and beaches. It was great to be able to walk to the very friendly pub in the village. Hopefully we will definitely come back in 2016.
Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your kind review, we hope you will all be back very soon indeed! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“Excellent venue for the family Christmas”
Barn Drift was chosen for our family get together for Christmas 2015. We couldn't have chosen better. Superb location and excellent service from the owners who couldn't have done more for us. All rooms offered maximum comfort and finished to a high specification.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your very kind review, so glad you all had such a good Christmas! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
Very comfortable place, everything one would need is on hand, plenty of space for our party of 13. Had a bit of an issue with the boiler, but plumber turned up within an hour and all was fixed. Great local restaurants and pubs, very enjoyable 10 mile walk stating right outside. Wifi a bit iffy at times.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your review, we are delighted you were so comfortable and enjoyed all the space. Barn Drift is beautifully appointed for good walks. I am sorry you had difficulties with the Wifi, I had no idea - it is usually reliable, perhaps the storms effected it while you were here, I do hope you won't be put off returning! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“An absolute treat! Wonderful!”
Fantastic stay at this wonderful property and Alice a pleasure to deal with, so helpful. Thank you so much!!!
Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review! I am just so thrilled that it all went so well and hope you will return soon. Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“Amazing setting and imaginatively designed accommodation.”
Spacious living area. Easily accommodates 14 people. Very comfortable beds. Amazing setting with lovely views. Safe outside space for toddlers and young children, especially with the ride-on toys provided. Assorted kitchen equipment but the two Nespresso machines were much appreciated, as was the welcome gift basket. Ideal setting for a celebration.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your very kind and helpful review, we particularly like to hear that the very very young have so enjoyed them selves! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“Great barn for going away with a group. Home from home facilities”
Great location. The kitchen is really well stocked. Great to have all ensuite facilities. There are lots of good places to eat in Blakeney and the Wiveton Bell is good. Fantastic beaches at Wells and Holkam.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind review and positive comments, we notice you have awarded us 4 stars rather than 5 - I hope you were completely comfortable, please don't hesitate to let us know where you feel we could improve Barn Drift. Many thanks, Alice and Jonny
“Excellent place and perfect for large group”
Just back from a lovely weekend break as a group of 10 friends escaping children and husbands for a weekend - really lovely barn with tonnes of space and everything you could need on hand, e.g. nespresso coffee maker, log fire, beautiful décor and great location for the walks around Cley and Blakeney or the shops and tearooms of Holt. Lovely meal at the Kings Head at Letheringsett only a couple of miles away and a great weekend away in a fabulous setting.
Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind review - it sounds like you had a blissful time, wish I had been there too! Best wishes, Alice and Jonny
“a stunning house in a stunning location”
The photos on the website almost do not do this absolutely stunning property justice! There is such a wonderful sense of style, luxury, space and light. All bedrooms were beautifully decorated and the layout was clever, contemporary and interesting. Location wise - there is lots and lots of totally safe outside space for children and dogs to run around in and the North Norfolk Coast is fabulous - lots to do and see in terms of beaches (Holkham is our favorite and if you like shopping there is Holt and Burnham Market. Best thing about this property is the 'wow' factor and the total comfort (beds are exceptionally comfortable). Worst thing : there was no cheese grater!
Owner's reply: Very many thanks for your kind review of Barn Drift - as usual we are delighted to hear that you were all so comfortable and enjoyed your stay so much. We found the missing cheese grater... and garlic crusher by the way, both in the boot room! Hope to have you to stay again soon, Alice & Jonny
