About "Era Vintage Beach Chalet"

This chalet is an original early Humberston Fitties beach chalet, sensitively restored and maintained since October 2016. Built between 1914 and 1925 right on the seafront at Humberston Fitties, the chalet was placed on the Historic Assets List in 2016 (one of just six out of 320 chalets on the site).
Humberston Fitties itself is a Conservation Area and "Era" has been carefully restored in keeping with her vintage style and has featured in many magazine and newspaper articles, on TV and in photo shoots due to both her great location and unique style with genuine vintage interior.
We have been hosting guests holidays since 2017 and welcome people who have a passion for true vintage and an appreciation of both its delicacy and delight.
Sorry, no parties and no children under 12 allowed.
GUESTS: due to the age, size and facilities we welcome a maximum of 4 people and 2 pets by arrangement.
HEATING and ELECTRICITY - electricity is not included in the rental and is charged at cost via a smart meter. We read the meter with you when you arrive and ask you to read it again before you go and leave the correct money in the chalet. Heating is via electric heaters and a coal fire. An initial complimentary supply of kindling, logs and coal is provided all year around. Further coal or logs can be bought at local garages and garden centres.
LOUNGE: furnished entirely with 50's/60's vintage including 3 piece suite and drinks cabinet, glass china cabinet, unusual vintage lamps, bookcase, etc. original coal fire and of course, the serving hatch from the kitchen!
BEDROOM 1: has a luxury 4' double bed suitable for tall people (no foot-board), memory foam sprung mattress and mattress topper, four pillows and a double duvet plus blankets for winter use. Bedside table with lamp, chest of drawers, chair, and small wardrobe.
All beds are made up with fresh bed linen before you arrive.
BEDROOM 2: has a 4'6" full double bed with new sprung mattress and memory foam topper, four pillows and a king-size duvet. This is a bunk bed and has a single 3' bed above. Wardrobe, chest of drawers, cupboard and bedside table with lamp.
KITCHEN: if you prefer self catering you wont be disappointed, it is small but very well equipped. Gas cooker with eye level grill, enamel sink (hot water is via an immersion heater), fridge with ice compartment. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and milk are provided as well as the usual condiments.
DINING / SUN ROOM: West facing and opening onto the private back garden. Furnished in traditional vintage Barley Twist dining table and 4 chairs with accompanying dining furnishings in keeping with the era.
BATHROOM: modern full size bath, sink and toilet. Hot water is via the immersion heater. Fresh but basic hand and bath towels are provided.
GADGETS: full WiFi broadband throughout. I also leave an Android phone charger in the lounge and a toothbrush charger in the bathroom wash-stand just in case you forget yours (or I forget mine for that matter!)
GARDEN: as the chalet is detached there is a picket fence all around the plot. The front garden is facing the sea which can be heard when the tide is coming in. The chalet had a sea view until the 1953 flood surge after which a tidal barrier was built. The back garden is enclosed and private with garden set and extra chairs for guests.
DOGS - Well behaved dogs are welcome (but please clear this when booking).
All dogs must be house trained, continent and up to date with flea/worm treatments. Dogs who bark and disturb the neighbours would not be acceptable.
The garden is completely fenced and dogs can run free in the garden and on the beach all year around. Please bring your own blankets or throws to cover upholstered furniture if your dog likes to use it. Please do not let your dogs on the beds. We dont charge extra for dogs but this means you have to clean up all the dog hairs.
We like to greet all our guests in person and provide semi-skimmed milk on hand as well as fresh eggs from our free range ex battery hens. If its a chilly day, we will make you a fire for a warm welcome.
Children are not allowed in the chalet. Parties are not allowed in the chalet or garden.

Owner's reply: Dear Melanie, this is a review from a serious Vintage Lover to another, swoon!!! Isnt she just to love and adore? Its taken us two years and I dont want to mention how much £££ to get her like this. We had structural issues before we even got the furnishings, new beds, seeking finding. The kitchen sink was the last thing I managed to find. Until March she had a stainless steel sink. It was vile! I had bought the enamel sink from Withernsea a year ago, but lacked funds to have the whole kitchen messed up to involve the enamel sink. So it took a half a year to get that amazing sink in. Only trouble is I want one at home now too! Why did anyone ever stop having those amazing sinks? Beggars understanding. But that was her major last intervention. If I win the lottery, imagine what we could do with the bathroom? LOL! But she hits all the buttons for me, and so glad she did for you guys too. Thank you for helping us keep her going.
