Location description from owner

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine region

The Vienne department is one of four making up the Poitou-Charente region. It is a mixture of timeless rural living alongside vibrant univeristy city life and excellent shopping in Poitiers. Futuroscope is one of the most visited tourist attractions in France and is frequently updated to make it even more exciting. The Vallee des Singes (Monkey Valley) is fascinating. Set in a wooded valley a wide variety of monkeys, chimpanzees and apes can be seen living in both indoor and outdoor facilities. High points are feeding time for the Silverback gorillas and the enclosure containing the Bonobos. The many rivers, small lakes and wooded areas offer space for outdoor activities and picturesque chateaux and water mills are dotted around the countryside which abounds with wildlife and fields of sunflowers.

Civray

The area comprises of several small hamlets and villages set in rolling countryside traversed by the rivers Charente, Clouer and Clain. There are miles of tracks and lanes for walking and cycling and the majority of the roads are a pleasure to drive on as there is so little traffic. Throughout late Spring and Summer and into Autumn every village hosts an event of some kind whether, folklorique, culinary, musical, dance or pageant. There is sure to be something for all tastes.
