Holiday house to rent on Karragarra Island which is on beautiful Moreton Bay
" Karra " as the locals call it has one of the nicest sandy beaches on the Southern Moreton Bay Islands .
For the travellers flying in there is a shuttle bus from the airport that will drop you at the ferry terminal
Karragarra has a free sheltered bbq area and swimming enclosure and is a great place to watch the sun go down with a wine in hand .
The passenger ferries run approximately. every half hour from 4.30 am to midnight from Redland Bay.
The car ferries also run from Redland Bay every hour from 5.30am to 6.30pm which is an experience in itself .
There are no traffic lights , roundabouts not even a stop sign on Karra .
You are on a peaceful island where you will have to get used to the people saying " Hi " or a welcoming nod of the head as you pass by .
The passenger ferries offer free inter island travel to Macleay , Lamb and Russell Islands so there is plenty to explore .
If you want a meal at a restaurant or club , just a matter of jumping on the free ferry .
Most of the clubs offer a free courtesy bus and will pick you up and drop you off at the ferry terminal at your leisure .
If you like to dabble at golf you can take the bikes across to Macleay island and ride to the coarse or they have a courtesy bus which will pick you up from the ferry terminal.
They also hire golf clubs for Free and it is $10 for 9 holes . They also have meals and beer . ( that's a winner ).
Pets are welcome but if you want to travel on the passenger ferry inter island they will have to have a lead and muzzles or they will not let you on .
You will find an information sheet with all relevant phone numbers ferry times etc. at the house .
Macleay and Russell have a supermarket and shops so if there is anything you need it is 3 minutes to Macleay and 15 minutes to the larger island Russell.
The house is at the eastern end of the island where you can sit on the front verandah and watch the ferries go by or just listen to the sounds of the abundant bird life .
If you like mudcrabs you can put your pots out in front of the house or anywhere you choose .
If you bring a boat just be careful of where the green zones are located .
A boat brings a whole new world to explore with places like Peel Island , Blakeleys and Jumpinpin being favourites .
There are 2 pushbikes at the house with helmets . These you can put on the passenger ferry to make it easier to explore other Islands .
There are also 2 kayaks and safety jackets for you to explore the coastal areas near the house .
You can catch squire , bream , flathead and jewfish on many places on the Bay . Crabbing is all year round and the crabs are very prolific . Just remember the males are the only ones you can keep of legal size .
If you are after peace and quiet doing as much or little as you want it would be hard to find a better place so close to the water .
The house is not suitable for toddlers under 5 years as although legal in Qld. there is no handrail on the front verandah as it is less than a metre high and we like the unobstructed view.
The house rents for $650 per week or $125 per night ( minimum 2 nights ) .
Linen and towels are supplied .
You will have a great holiday
Cheers Kevin and Tina
