“Charming & cosy getaway”
I stayed at this sweet & charming studio between 4 - 8 June 2012. After such a hectic pace in the city, it was wonderful to arrive at Citta della Pieve for a change of pace. The studio is exactly as described and very quiet and relaxing. The owner had thoughtfully provided all the basic needs and a much needed bottle of wine upon our arrival! The location was good and served as a good base as we managed to visit Montepulciano, Assisi, Penza, etc and it was always good to return home to the charming studio to unwind. Very good value! I highly recommend it! Judy Millar
“Superb setting and facilities”
Its taken a year to get round to this review due to slack inbox management and the reminder of the value of other peoples reviews now we are looking at a 2012 holiday. We are heading back to Italy again but a different part of the country. It would be wonderful to be able to lift Selve Vecchie and move it to Calabria. The property lived up to the previous good reviews. It is clean, well equipped and an absolute pleasure to stay in. We visited early in the season and although the pool wasnt ready for us we did have the whole area to ourselves. There are a handful of properties here but we hardly saw anyone. The only downside (and this could easily be a positive for someone else) is the distance in to town. Its definately a drive.. It would be a long and fairly perilous walk. I would happily visit again and gladly recommend the property to anyone wanting to visit this stunning area of Italy and still have that 'this is very cool' feeling when they get back home in an evening.
“A lovely holiday home with attention to detail, excellently located!”
Our 2-week stay in Selve Vecchie last September was wonderful! The property is superbly located: amidst the Umbrian hills yet only a short drive away from Citta della Pieve, a very nice village with all amenities (shops, bars, restaurants, lively festivals etc.). The apartment itself is perfectly equipped and definitely spacious enough for 2 people. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and everything was supplied for a first dinner and breakfast the next morning (which was ideal as we arrived on a Sunday). The outside table & chairs are excellent for al fresco dining and enjoying a star-filled evening. If you are as lucky as we were, the remainder of the property is virtually empty and you can enjoy the gardens and very large pool (excellent for early morning swims) all by yourselves! Numerous trips are possible from Selve Vecchie: Perugia, Assisi, Cortona, Montepulciano, Orvieto and many more. The Trasimeno Lake is very close by surrounded by multiple lovely villages. Highly recommended for sporty people is a bike ride around the lake: amazing! In short: a truly fantastic holiday and we would highly recommend Selve Vecchie to any couple looking to enjoy la dolce vita in a wonderful setting!
“Really relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings”
We had a lovely time together in Selve Vecchie, exploring Umbria and Tuscany. The apartment is gorgeous with lots of beautiful soft furnishings. We really enjoying using the well stocked kitchen to cook authentic Umbrian fare. Would really recommend as a retreat for a couple.
“Fantastic apartment – welcoming and homely, with great attention to detail.”
My boyfriend and I stayed at this property for a week during our summer holiday in Italy and didn’t want to leave! The apartment was fairly compact – though with more than enough space for two – but was very well equipped and furnished, and we felt completely at home from the moment we arrived. It was evident that a lot of thought had been put into all the details, from the welcome goodies (handmade soap, pasta, tomato sauce, a bottle of prosecco and some olive oil from the local area, on top of the basics you might expect) to candles, complimentary toiletries and luxurious bathrobes – which even got used in August. There was lots to see and do nearby, which the wealth of information provided about the local area helped us with, and we also enjoyed relaxing by the pool which had fabulous view of the surrounding area. On top of this, booking was easy, the directions were very clear and check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Overall a great experience – highly recommended.
“Peaceful stay on glorious Umbria”
A lovely villa in the tranquil surroundings of Umbria. We flew to Perugia and with Carmelle's directions in hand found the villa in about 40 minutes by car. Upon arrival Deborah was most helpful and we felt quite at home quickly. The villa is well appointed and very comfortable. We spent some days travelling to reasonably accessible places - Orvieto, the Lake and our favourite Montepulciano. Citta della Pieve is quite small but has decent amenities and some nice restaurants. Overall thoroughly recommended.
“A small but comfortable”
Lovely apartment, small but well equipped, comfortable bed. Complimentary wine and soaps etc. A folder full of useful information and travel ideas. Only one problem was with water wastage whilst waiting for the hot water to come through, about 10 minutes sometimes. Would recommend to a friend if the problem was fixed. However, the apartment is set in a beautiful part of Umbria and we thoroughly enjoyed the peacefulness and location.
I am really pleased you enjoyed your time at Selve Vecchie and always lovely to welcome fellow Australians. As we discussed, water is precious and all efforts have been made to stop additional wasteage but as explained, you were the first customers with sole occupancy after a long cold winter, therefore the water had to run longer than usual to be piping hot. In summer this is not necessary. Many thanks and do hope to welcome you back again one day.
“A lovely homely place to return to for relaxation after a hard day's sightseeing.”
Selve Vecchie is a delightful small complex of refurbished buildings which have been converted into homes of various sizes. This one bedroom hideaway is ideal for a couple. There are numerous personal touches from the owner with a welcome bottle of wine, olive oil and soap to an eclectic choice of music to play on the CD player provided for guests. The patio is a lovely place to start the day with a leisurely breakfast and the good sized swimming pool an ideal place to relax before or after tackling the many nearby sightseeing attractions. A great spot on the Umbria / Tuscany borders.
“best equipped holiday rental ever.”
The property is what i would call a bijou appartment. it is not very big, but it was right for us.The appartment is extremely well appointed.Litterally everything was there. Toiletries, hairdryer, kitchen stuff, cleaning things, tea, coffee, sugar,an extensive array of books. The appartment is situated in a nice garden amongst other rental properties. The location is central for visiting bigger towns and villages around. However, for 4 adults the space would be a bit crammed. And with regard to a family, the appartment is one open space, with only a door into the bathroom.
