This is a fabulous cottage for a holiday in the Cotswolds that offers a step in two eras, the 'now and then' that work so well together.

A recent project (2015) of a simply stunning extension has created a superb living space for cooking, dining and relaxing! The new, bespoke kitchen has a large central island with the hob, an enamel sink, integral under the work surface drawers, cupboards and dishwasher. The original pantry is complemented by fitted units for ultimate storage which includes a fridge, a freezer and an eye level oven. A glazed 'wall' is a cleverly designed folding door that opens completely to bring to the cottage the optimum in fresh air, summer sunshine and the tranquillity of this Cotswolds holiday retreat. The wood burning stove and moody lighting will add a touch of romance to any holiday. There is also a comfy sitting room in which the large open fire, exposed stone wall and quarry tiles retains both character and tradition. Upstairs you have two bedrooms, both with TV's, one double and one twin so ideal for 2 couples or as a family holiday cottage. Lovely deep pile carpets! The bathroom has been refurbished with a kidney shaped bath for more comfort when using the rain shower.

Outside to the front is a south facing garden with seating and to the rear, a small enclosed, paved courtyard.

The cottage is in the centre of the village looking across to the adjacent monument to William Smith (hence the unual cottage name!), Langstone Memorial and 19th century All Saints Church.

The village pub, The Chequers is a few steps away where you will find a warm welcome and very good food. Within a 5 mile radius you have a fabulous choice of eateries in villages such as Kingham, Shipton-under-Wychwood, Bledington and in the market town of Chipping Norton.

In the heart of the Cotswolds, Churchill is 3 miles south of Chipping Norton and 2 miles from Kingham station (the village is serviced by the local bus that is timed to meet the trains on the London/Paddington line and picks up right outside the house).

Within about 30 minutes you can enjoy the theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon to the north, the history and atmosphere of Oxford City to the south-east or Cheltenham Spa and the stunning Georgian facades to the south-west. Cotswold Wildlife Park, Slimbridge Wetlands Centre, Birdland, Toddington Steam Railway, Cotswold Falconry Centre.....you have a huge variety of things to do and places to see on your doorstep.

What a choice! Enjoy the attractions of the Cotswolds or simply relax in your own country cottage. Whatever you decide, Monument Corner Cottage is a lovely place to stay!

Location description from manager

The England region

From Windsor to the Welsh Borders our area offers a taste of what was and what is...fabulous properties of historic and architectural interest that sit alongside pretty tea rooms, gastro pubs, shops, restaurants etc etc!

In a simply stunning Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the Cotswolds with the unique honey-coloured stone, ancient woodlands and miles of rolling hills and over 3,000 miles of public footpaths. The rivers Windrush and Coln trickle their way through some of the prettiest Cotswold towns and villages you will ever come across, Burford, Bourton-on-the-Water and Bibury. Royal Berkshire and the Thames Valley are on the doorstep of the Capital. Stay in Windsor (with a royal neighbour!), be close to Henley-on-Thames famous for Henley Regatta or walk The Thames Path as the river meanders through rural villages, historic towns and peaceful water meadows before it reaches the Thames Barrier in the heart of London. From your 'own' front door you can explore the contrasts of Worcestershire, Herefordshire & Shropshire. Visit the theatres at Stratford-upon-Avon, walk the Ridgeway Path from the Thames in the west through to the atmospheric Chiltern Hills.

Our towns and villages optimise the English rural scene...cricket on the green, a glass of locally brewed beer, peace and quiet - lovely!

Churchill

In the stunning Oxfordshire Cotswolds the village of Churchill is located close to the county border with Gloucestershire between the towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Chipping Norton. There is an excellent pub in the village, a lovely church, many ancient buildings and interesting monuments. The village benefits from a local bus service to and from Kingham train station (London/Paddington line) and into nearby 'Chippy' as Chipping Norton is fondly known.
