Description

Converted from an 18th century cow byre with 21st century technology and services, Cranberry Cottage is located amongst beautiful Shropshire Hills rolling countryside in the tiny village of Shelve. With stunning views and superb walking, the cottage provides a peaceful retreat that is within easy reach of Ludlow, the Stretton Hills, Shrewsbury and the Ironbridge Gorge.

Lower Farm is a smallholding sitting in an enviable position in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the little village of Shelve which affords panoramic views across the surrounding hills and countryside. Mobile phones do not work here, allowing you to escape the pressures of every day life and get away from it all (however there is wi-fi for those who have to keep in touch with the outside world!). Small dogs as we have lots of old-fashioned stiles but we can point out nice walks on bridleways to avoid carrying dogs.

This is walking country at its finest with something to suit all abilities from a gentle half hour stroll to Shelve Pool, to a strenuous hike over the Devil's chair. The circular 'Flenny Bank Walk' is also accessible from the farm along with the BC-ring, and the Mucklewick Walk can be accessed just down the hill. It is possible to join the Shropshire Way and walk to Bishops Castle and then catch the bus back and for those who want to avoid using the car during their holiday, The Shropshire Hills Shuttle provides access to many walking areas. In addition, the farm is just a short drive or a stroll from Stiperstones ridge and there are many other walks in the surrounding area.

The area is popular with cyclists and the owners have a secure bike storage for those bringing their own bikes. Fishing opportunities are also available very locally.

The market town of Bishop's Castle is nine miles away and offers a good range of amenities including pubs, shops, coffee houses and a small general and vegetable market each week. There is also a farmers market every third Saturday. With its own unique quirky character, many people fall for Bishop's Castle's charm.

Shrewsbury and Ludlow are within easy reach, for those seeking a more sophisticated shopping experience in a lovely setting with historic buildings, fantastic restaurants and shops. Telford also has a larger selection of chain stores and shopping malls for serious shoppers!
