“A lovely apartment with stunning views in a beautiful Valencian village.”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2014

If you love walking in the mountains, exploring canyons and swimming in freshwater lakes and rivers... Chulilla is the place for you. The village nestled in the mountains and dominated by castle ruins was sleepy, beautiful and friendly. The apartment itself was clean, spacious with a large terrace and stunning views. Enrique, the host was kind, thoughtful and very helpful. No amount of photos will do this place justice but the memories and experiences will last a lifetime!

“The perfect place to stay - stunning landscape and wonderful village”

Reviewed 10 May 2014

A great little apartment with perfect views of the gorge and village from the sun filled terrace. Chulilla is a wonderful place for climbing - great long pitches on superb rock - and also a great place to chill out walking and enjoying the village. We would also definitely recommend a visit to Valencia - its a really lovely city and great for enjoying on foot by walking along the old route of the river. It's also got the most incredible modern architecture. We loved spending time in the village having food and beer after a day on the crag. Overall I couldn't recommend this place too highly. We'll definitely be going back. Thanks Enrique for a great holiday.

“Go there! Stay there! Super comfortable then enjoy the best hiking around!!!”

Best views from your apt in all of Chuililla. Clean, comfortable and extreamly helpful hosts. Best place we stayed in during our 6 week adventure in Spain.

“Absolute Paradise, Breath Taking Views, Excellent apartment, very friendly charming village”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2012

We stayed in Apartamentos La Muela - III in June for our main Holiday. The Village of Chulilla is around 50 minutes from Valencia City and for a picturesque village it's hard to believe it's so close a commute to a large city. The views from the roof top apartment are breathtaking, and we spent most mornings and evenings sat for hours staring at the views in awe. We had a quiet break, relaxing and chilling which seemed a million miles away from our busy hectic lives in the U.K. The village and apartment is ideal for this sort of holiday, and there are no shortages of lovely places to visit a short drive away. However if you are after an after, walking, hiking, or climbing holiday, Chulilla is perfect too, with all treks and climbs, jogging routes all made very clear. During our stay temp hit 44 degrees. Which according to our host was around 10 degrees higher than normal. Enrique the owner was very very welcoming, he's the Mayor and could not be more helpful in advising us of local attractions. Monday to Thursday the village is tranquil and peaceful place, almost sleepy, time just seems to stop in a perfect way. At weekends the village square comes alive with when we were there a large brass band playing, and then the next week a run around the castle half marathon. The square houses a few small bars/cafe/restaurants which owners are very welcoming. We stayed when Spain won the Euro Championships and we became honary Spanish supporters for a couple of weeks. All in all I could not rate our apartment and this village more highly, it gave us a holiday we will remember for ever, and certainly intend to return.

“Great little apartment in lovely surroundings.”

Firstly Chulilla is a beautiful village tucked away under a mountain with plenty of hiking and climbing opportunities available. If like us your child is too young to do much walking, the castle is a lovely place to visit and spending time in the village's square was very enjoyable. The locals were very friendly but it was a definite advantage to have a basic knowledge of Spanish. Valencia is only a hour's drive away and we did spend a few days in the city and surrounding areas. Enrique (our host) was very accommodating. On our arrival he spent time advising us of what there was to do in the area and even helped us book reservations at local restaurants. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Enrique provided us with a cot and high chair for our daughter and the apartment contained all facilities (microwave, oven, washing machine) that we required. The only real drawback was that the apartment was on the third floor and our daughter was very heavy to carry up all those stairs! But then again, being on the third floor, the view from our balcony was lovely!

“Every superlative you can think of - just go!”

It feels a world apart, with its steep, flower splashed, medieval alleys and whitewashed buildings clinging haphazardly to the sides of the canyon. And yet the tiny, self-contained village of Chulilla is just an hour by car inland from Valancia. Chulilla is 322 meters above sea level, gazing out over the Turia River valley - there are precipitous views every way you look. The scenery is dramatic, with soaring red and ochre cliffs, and it is brilliant for bird watching, rock climbing, walking, hiking or biking. There are Shire horses, a thermal spa, several good restaurants and bars, and a castle. Our stay at the Apartamentos La Muela was wonderful. There is a stunning view of the canyon and the castle from the top terrace – you will never want to leave. Enrique and his family are delightful people, and could not do enough to help us to enjoy our time in the area. One day Enrique left a huge bag of oranges outside our door, from his father's farm! The accomodation is actually much nicer than the photos would suggest, and you have all you need there. The three flights of steps might be an issue if you have mobility problems. There are four bars in the village square, and the village also has a general store and at least one butcher and baker. We were amazingly lucky to arrive by chance the weekend of the ancient Enrama festival, organised by the young people. It's all about Spring and rising sap. The lads cut down branches from Black Poplars and strew them over the balconies of the girls they fancy. There is, of course, a procession of traditionally dressed villagers and horses; lots of dancing and a human pyramid in the village square as the young people strain upwards balanced precariously to grab a ham suspended high above. Strangers are made very welcome. There is a brilliant new restaurant a hundred yards up the road from the apartments - Enrique will book you a table. And don't miss the wonderful Shire horses, see www.shireslaserrania.com/home.php Can't wait to go back! -

“Christmas in Chulilla”

Reviewed 17 Jan 2012

A wonderful clean apartment, with great views all around, we enjoyed many moments sitting on the terrace overlooking the village. Everything you need for a great getaway from it all break, with plenty of walks long or short to suit all needs. We enjoyed our Christmas time here so much we have booked again. This village and surrounding area is not to be missed.

“Beautifull apartment, fantastic location, charming owner”

Reviewed 14 Oct 2011

We spent five wonderful days at the La Muela I apartment in Chulilla. The apartment is comfortable, tastefully furnished, clean, well equiped and has a outdoor patio with a fantastic view over the picturesque village, remains of the castle and the gorge. There is also safe parking close by. Enrique gave us some excellent advice on the numerous wonderful walks in and around the village. He also advised us on where to park and how to use the public transport for our day visit to Valencia, which is just and hour's drive away. He recommended a magnificent scenic drive for our return to Madrid at the end of our stay. All in all he was an exceptionally helpful host without being intrusive in any way. I would hignly recommend La Muela to any one wanting to visit Chulilla and its surrounds including Valencia.

“splendid accommodation and hospitality in a beautiful part of Spain”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2011

We loved staying at Muela 1, the views from the apartment were lovely, and we enjoyed a very relaxing time there. Peaceful and calm, great for walking and swimming in the lake. We hope to return at some point in the future. We had a little difficulty finding the village but this was mostly our own fault as we had driven inland and approached the village from the south, and our map was erroneous and confusing. A great location also for visiting the city of Valencia, and the surrounding area.
