The beautiful patio and tropical gardens of Villa Mai Tai, are totally seculded. The private 70sqm pool is perfect for a leisurely swim or for exercise. Sun lounges can be positioned within the garden as you wish. And there is a dining table and longue in the covered sala.
The property is all on one level, which is perfect for disabled access and for families.
Dozens of small restaurants and bars line the beach offering tempting food and exotic cocktails, while a massage under a shady coconut treea is always tempting.
We loved the property so much, that after holidaying in it for three weeks we bought it. The villa is a perfect location for us as a family of two small children as the beach is so close. We always want a holiday that is relaxing as well as offering a traditional local experience, and we believe Koh Samui has it all.
Villa Mai Thai is managed by Horizon Homes who will meet you at the airport and can give advise on activities and places to see on the island. Wheher it be elephant riding, thai cooking lessons, massage on-site etc.
Please note that the pool is not fenced and no responsibility is taken in respect of accidents.
We also ask for smoking only to be in the outside areas of the property.
The Surat Thani Province region
In 1971 two tourists arrived on Thailand’s third-largest island via a coconut boat from Bangkok and stumbled upon paradise – white-sand beaches with palms blowing in the wind and clear green seas sparkling in the sunlight, against a picture-perfect background of lush green hills and brown roads interspersed with rough wooden structures.
More than 30 years after the first rough-hewn hut went up on Ko Samui, the island and the archipelago that includes 80 smaller islands, has become the Asian travel market's most enigmatic chameleon – as attractive to fire-twirling backpackers as to flashpackers toting Louis Vuitton. On the map alongside places like Goa and Bali, Samui has polished its reputation as a hippy island paradise that remembers to provide the best of the creature comforts from home. In the last five years, Samui has become as popular as Phuket, and at times as trendy. If it's nightlife you're after, the full moon parties held at Ko Pha-Ngan are legendary, while snorkelling and nature enthusiasts will enjoy Ko Tao.
Some travellers plan to stay a week and three months later are still entranced.
Koh Samui has a tropical climate. Temperatures are an average 28 degrees Celsius year round. The weather is generally good year round, and the one thing you will rarely feel is cold.
Located on the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samui offers world-class diving sites with optimum conditions between March and August (the worst September to November).
Cheong Mon beach is unrivaled when it comes to location and beauty. Its white sandy beaches and turquoise waters are captivating as well as its stunning views. The beach is completely children friendly, with the water gently lapping up against the shores. The village itself has lots of local shops for artefacts, tailors, convenience stores, great restaurants and bars. But without the noise of the larger towns, it is a true village. And we personally love to eat at the beach restaurants, with the sand running between our toes.
The airport is a short 10 mintues drive from the villa, but you don't get the airport noise.
Within 5 minutes drive there are the beautiful Wats (temple) at Plai Laim (a 5 minute drive), and the Big Buddah temple.
