The Scotland region

The Scottish Borders is not just an area of outstanding natural beauty. A colourful and turbulent history has shaped Borders life over the centuries, instilling a local pride and passion in all who live here. Castles, abbeys and stately homes all have their tale to tell of the part they played in Scottish history while museums give a more local view of Borders life.

Chirnside

Our property benefits from a hilltop location affording fantastic views of the surrounding countryside. Being only two miles away from the village of Chirnside, home of rally driver Jim Clark, with all of it's local amenities means that you experience the best of both worlds – the tranquillity of the countryside and the close proximity of local services.

“AMAZING PLACE!! CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN!”

Reviewed 19 Nov 2013

Where to Start, I am in love with this house! Just spent a long weekend here with all my friends and some family members, mixed ages but mostly young and some small kids.. this amazing house really does cater for everyone!! We were celebrating my 30th birthday and my did we celebrate in style. The HUGE hot tub was welcomed by all, even in chilly November! We really hit it off weatherwise having a fully dry weekend however the hot tub is perfectly positioned to shelter you from too much wind and rain and can be enjoyed all year round. The pool is fantastic and lovely and warm.. with plenty inflatables left there for our use by the lovely owners. The Sauna is equally fantastic and well kept :) There is so much space in this house!! all the bedrooms were a great size, most with their own large jacuzzi bathroom or shower room. Having such a big crowd we did worry about being on top of each other but the place is perfect. We couldn't quite beleive how big all the bedrooms were. The games room with all the kids toys and books kept the little members of our group occupied all weekend while the huge wine fridge kept all the bubbly cool for us adults! haha. Storage wise they have a massive american fridge freezer in the main kitchen (plus the wine fridge) then another fridge freezer in the utility room so there is plenty fridge/freezer space for large groups. All the cooking appliances you can imagine are there at your disposal. Particularly loved the Aga! :) The owner Alison was a pleasure to deal with, in contact by text or email if you need her but she gives you your space and privacy on your weekend. She left us stair gates, travel cots and high chairs at no extra cost (the stair gates were particularly useful as you would loose your little ones in this massive house otherwise!) She was lovely from start to finish and you really do feel at home in their wonderful house! The welcome hamper of wine and chocolates was a lovely and appreciated touch. People have mentioned the need to strip your beds.. yes we did strip ours and left all dirty linen and towels in the utility room.. in fact we tried our best to leave it exactly how we found it & I really dont begrudge it given the extent these lovely owners go to to make you feel at home. All their own DVD's & CD's are left for your use, log is left for the fire, lots of clean towels for the pool, inflatables in the pool and heaps of kids toys and books and costumes in the playroom. All the little homely details are there which is hard to find in many accomodations and they are entrusting you with their belongings, it's nice to leave it in a nice way :) Alison recommended a local beutician who we booked to come in and give all us ladies some pamper massages.. I can highly recommend Amy and her girls. They were incredibly good value for money and sent us all off to sleep with their excellent massages! I wouldnt hesitate to recommend or go back to this venue as would every single one of my guests, all of whom are depressed to be home! haha. Thanks again Alison, we all hope to be back soon! xx

“Brilliant for children and adults.”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2013

Everyone had a great holiday at Edingtonhill house. Ages ranged from 8 months to 70 and there were 5 children who loved the pool, hot tub, playroom and outdoor areas. We celebrated our grandson's 9th birthday, had a barbecue and entertained 40 guests at an "Open Day". As there was plenty space the families could be together or apart. There were lots of interesting activities nearby too, although the children would have been happy just staying at the house. Alison was really helpful and made us feel so welcome. A very memorable holiday.

“This house is out of this world”

Reviewed 4 Feb 2013

Do not use the directions from Google Maps (i.e. do not turn off for Chirnside) if travelling from the North. Follow the directions given by Alison. It would be useful if there was a signpost at the end of the road as it was quite difficult to find it in the dark. That said though, this house is absolutely amazing. The internet photo's do not do it justice. We stayed for a family birthday & it can only be described as an amazing trip. Hot tub & Sauna were fantastic. Kids loved the swimming pool and with it being a heated pool, the kids coud play in it for hours. It wasn't too far to drive to both Berwick Upon Tweed and also Eyemouth where there are plenty of takeaways for those not wishing to cook.

“Amazing weekend!”

Reviewed 16 Nov 2012

The house itself is out of this world! Been done out to a very high standard. The facilities are excellent. The only down fall in our opinion is having to strip the beds on leaving we felt the price we paid we should not have to been running around stripping the beds on the morning we left. This was the only down fall to out weekend away and it would not be enough to stop us returning. Great accommodation for a girly weekend away or a big family break.

“Would recommend a stay here”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2012

Stayed here for a weekend with family members. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Views all around were stunning. Large grassy area for games or lounging around. Pool was fantastic,as was sauna and jaccuzi. All of us would consider a family weekend here on an annual basis! Have advised other family members to look into this property rental.
