Crouchers in Singleton is a wonderful family holiday home in the sought after South Downs village of Singleton, near Chichester and Goodwood. The cottage is made up of an historic Grade II listed building with later extensions added to it. This gives a real mix of character, from old world charm to more modern and spacious rooms. The cottage also has a private swimming pool in the gardens, making it an ideal place for a family holiday or just for a short break to relax and unwind with friends.
One of the features of Crouchers is the main sitting room, located in the oldest part of the cottage. With high ceilings and an open fireplace, it is a great space for getting together. There is a hidden area behind the fireplace that is used as an additional sleeping area with a double bed. The kitchen has a country style to it and features an AGA cooker, as well as a conventional oven and electric hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. There is a small utility room/cloakroom that has washing machine and tumble dryer available.
The more modern part of the cottage has a good size dining area and a hallway that leads to the 3 bedrooms. The large master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and direct access to the gardens via either a stable door or patio doors. There are 2 further bedrooms sharing a family bathroom accessed from the hallway. The second bedroom has 2 single beds and wash basin, plus a mezzanine level that makes a great play area (accessed by a vertical fixed ladder). The third bedroom acts as a second sitting room on the ground floor and then has a balcony/mezzanine level with a double bed and a single bed. This use of these beds are for the more adventurous as this balcony/mezzanine level is also accessed via a vertical fixed ladder.
Crouchers sits in mature gardens that include an area of lawn, a patio with a pergola over and barbeque area, as well as a private heated swimming pool for guest use (only available from mid-May to mid-September). This makes it an ideal place to enjoy in the summer, with both the pool and the shade from the pergola providing somewhere to cool down on hot days.
(Please note, the swimming pool is to be used at the guests own risk and children must be supervised at all times. Guests making use of the mezzanine levels in the bedrooms also do so at their owner risk as the access is via vertical fixed ladders).

The West Sussex region
The attractive village of Singleton is located close to the centre of the South Downs National Park and offers a rural village feel, combined with the convenience of having the city of Chichester within a few minutes' drive, as well as so many things to do right on the doorstep. Goodwood race course and motor racing circuit just minutes away, as are the Goodwood Estate's two golf courses. The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, which offers a wonderful glimpse at the history of architecture, farming and rural life in the area is just a short walk away. The village has a very popular pub, The Partridge Inn, about 50 yards down the road from the cottage. The pub serves good food and is particularly popular for Sunday lunch. The historic cathedral city of Chichester is just a few miles to the south and offers a great selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to suit all tastes. To short drive to the north is the town of Midhurst and the Cowdray Estate, famous for being home to polo in England, hosting the Gold Cup every summer.
A little further afield, the cities of Portsmouth and Brighton are easily accessible by either road or rail from Chichester. Portsmouth, home to the Royal Navy since 1194, has attractions including the Mary Rose, HMS Warrior and HMS Victory, as well as shopping at Gunwharf Quays with its iconic Spinnaker Tower. Brighton is famous for its shopping, offering an eclectic range of independent shops along the narrow pathways of The Lanes.
