The Derbyshire region
Come and visit Chesterfield and the surrounding Derbyshire area. This is Border Country, where the town meets the countryside, where the Peak District meets Robin Hood Country. The Peak District is only a short drive away from the apartment or a local bus ride from Chesterfield town centre.
Follow trails and tracks to sleepy villages hidden among green hills and rippling river valleys and, every now and then, you´ll stumble across a stunning view, a fascinating garden or a stately home from the majesty of Chatsworth to the Italianate gardens of Renishaw Hall. From Elizabethan splendour at Hardwick past the dramatic hillside ruin of Sutton Scarsdale Hall to the fairytale heights of Bolsover Castle.
Chesterfield is the perfect base to explore the peak district. Only a ten minute drive will get you to the border where you will see stunning countryside, or visit beautiful stately homes. If you enjoy walking then the peak district is a must visit area, You can enjoy short easy walks or participate in half day or all day walking experiences. The seasons are beautiful to experience whether its the warm summer or the crisp autumn and winter days, the changing seasons make the peak district beautiful all year round. Christmas events are all around the area and places such as Chatsworth House make it a place to definately visit even to just take in the beautiful christmas decorations and listen to the carol singers whilst drinking mulled wine.
You can also visit Chesterfield Tourist Information Centre for everything you need to know about the area. This information centre has won numerous awards for its building and customer service and will make sure you don't miss a thing during your stay in Chesterfield. It is located in Rykneld Square near the Crooked Spire in Chesterfield centre. Take a look at the events on at the local theatres, there is usually something worth watching and the Pomegranate theatre has a fantastic christmas production of beauty and the beast over the christmas period.
