“Recommend for family”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2017

Very clean and well situated place. Home from home feel. Lots of space for a family. Would have been nice to arrive to welcome pack of basics especially as we arrived late Sunday and nothing was open. I'll visit again.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review. I am pleased that you found the Oak Barns to your liking. A lot of guests order a home delivery from one of the supermarkets in the area if they intend to arrive quite late in the day. If you do decide to visit again then I will be happy to receive any grocery orders on your behalf. Thanks again, Jayne Wilson, Owner of the Oak Barns.

“Serene in the green”

Reviewed 1 Jun 2017

The Oak Barn cottages are super nice, clean and serene. The place itself is very comfortable and light and airy, and Jayne is the hostess with a grand smile; very accomodating. I especially liked strolling down across the River Dee to Holt in Wales to get provisions. The greenery and tranquility of the area are very soothing. I just wish we had more time to visit the Peal O' Bells pub there. And, you're only about 15 minute drive from Chester and all that implies.

Owner's reply: I am very pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Oak Barns. My husband and I love to stroll along the River Dee as well with our small dog. The countryside is beautiful and yet we are only about 7 miles from Chester itself. Thanks again for the review. Jayne Wilson, Property Owner.

“Miss”

Fantastic... Comes highly recommended! We stayed in the oak lodge for a week which was perfect. We arrived after 48hours travelling and felt instantly at home. The kids (ages 2 and 6!) were all over the show with jet lag but it didn't matter that were up at 3am having breakfast as there was no-one To disturb. Well equipped, comfy, light and spacious. Gorgeous views over the welsh hills and privacy. 5 min walk to local high street, pub, pharmacy, coffee shop. 15 mins into Wrexham or Chester with supermarkets. Would definitely stay again. Thanks Jane.

Owner's reply: I am really pleased that you enjoyed your stay in the Oak Lodge situated opposite the Oak Barns. It is an ideal property to stay in if you have young children because it is detached and has its own private garden for them to play in. I agree with you that the views over the Welsh Hills are really lovely. Hope to welcome you back another time. Jayne Wilson, property owner.

“Superb accommodation in beautiful setting”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2012

We all thoroughly enjoyed our break at Oak Barns. The accommodation is so lovely, we as Grandparents appreciated the bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor, with the rest of the family upstairs ! It is in such a lovely area, we loved Farndon, and Holt and my Daughter, myself and Grand Daughter really enjoyed the retail therapy in Chester !! We always do self catering as my Daughter has a lot of serious allergies, so Oak Barns was perfect for us. The 'oldies 'did several walks along the River which was perfect, we were all so amazed how quiet everywherere was ! but I guess that's because we are used to Birmingham !!! Thank you again for your assistance with the booking, and please thank the owners on our behalf.

“Lovely, clean, modern house in great location”

Reviewed 26 Aug 2012

Stayed here with 3 small children. Great location and easy to find with directions from owner. House was modern and tidy with all mod cons. House was very clean and everything was working including tv, dvd, dish washer washing machine etc. Beds very comfortable and we all slept (including the kids!) as lovely and peaceful. Barbeque was provided which was nice touch - but as this was the wettest summer on record we didnt get to use it!. Only (very small) negatives - bath towels quite small so consider bringing your own and just be aware bathroom upstairs is in the main bedroom - no problem for us as staying with my family. If you are staying with friends - you either need to be happy to 'share' or use facilities downstairs. Owner was on site and very helpful. We would definately stay here again if in the area and I would highly recommend.

“Oak Barns stay Aug 2012”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2012

Had an excellent weeks stay in Oak Barns - superb base for visiting Chester and North Wales. Loads to see and do when out and about. Accommodation was first class - clean, tidy, spacious and roomy. The Greyhound pub in the village is worth a visit - friendly locals with a pool table and dart board .......... all in all and excellent weeks stay :)
