Location description from owner

The England region

Chester has plenty of events to enjoy from Food and Drink festival to Cheese Rolling and the Races. Good golf around Chester and Hoylake on the Wirral and the Open Golf in Southport. Chester itself is full of wonderful shops hidden in the Tudor rows, good restaurants, museums and great connections to North Wales, Liverpool and Manchester.

The north west region enjoys an excellent reputation for commerce, golf courses, football, shopping and farming. There is a wonderful network of cycleways, canals, and great rail links to London or Ireland. The road network is excellent.

The area is home to many of England's banks. Cheshire has a diverse economy with significant sectors including agriculture, automotive, bio-technology, chemical, financial services, food and drink, ICT, and tourism. The county is famous for the production of Cheshire cheese, salt and silk. The main cities are Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. The region has two race courses: Aintree in Liverpool and Chester.

The area of Cheshire is mainly rural with lots of villages. The cities are home to many outstanding universities such as Manchester Business School, UMIST, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Chester Law School, to name but a few.

Chester City Centre

The House overlooks the canal and King Charles 1 Tower on the city walls. Thanks to early 18th century restoration, the city wall is now intact and the circuit of two miles can be walked. The north and east walls follow the Roman fortress walls and before 1121 the Medieval walls were extended west and south to include the castle. The King Charles Tower is where King Charles I watched the Battle of Rowton Heath and it is sited as the most impressive tower on the walls.

Chester is the capital city of Cheshire. Once a Roman city, Deva, evidence of Roman occupation can be seen at the nearby amphitheatre, the walls that surround the city and the many archaeological finds in the museums. The centre of Chester is an an architectural feast with Roman, Saxon, Tudor and Victorian buildings and sites that are quite beautiful.

Attractions for Chester visitors include the Roman Walls surrounding the city; Chester Zoo; The River Dee and The Groves, Grosvenor Museum, Chester Races, Chester Food and Drink Festival, Plays in the Park, Chester Marathon and the many restaurants and bars to enjoy.

“Lovely, conveniently located property”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2016

Just returned from 3 night stay at Waters Edge; lovely, well equipped and beautifully maintained and decorated property in an excellent location. Melanie was friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful time - our stay included a day at the races and a day at Chester Zoo. We had a great meal at 1539, excellent food and service.

Owner's reply: It's great to know you had such a lovely time. Both the races and the zoo are great experiences for the family - and you can stroll to the races in a few minutes from the house. Thank you for being such considerate guests. Kind regards Melanie

A group of 6 friends stayed here for a Christmas get together for 2 nights. We were more than pleased with our choice, well appointed, tastefully decorated and added welcome touches. Overlooking the canal and opposite the city walls with a short stroll along these bringing you in to Chester city centre. Would definitely stay here again!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your kind words Gail. Glad to know that you had a great time out in Chester and that the house worked so well for you. Come back in 2016 and enjoy what Chester has to offer from your lovely base at Waters Edge. Kind regards Melanie

We had the pleasure of staying at "The House at Waters Edge" recently for a girly weekend. The house and location were perfect, and contributed to a great weekend. Special mention must go to Melanie the owner for being so accommodating with us regarding check in and check out times, and also for her really helpful recommendations for local restaurants and bars which were put to good use. A beautiful house in a beautiful city!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review, Paula. So glad to know that you had a wonderful time and enjoyed both the house and our beautiful city. Come back soon with your girlfriends, we'd be delighted to host you again. Kind regards Melanie

We stayed for two nights and couldn't have been happier with House at the Waters Edge. Booking it, making payment and recieving access infomation was hassle free. On our arrival it was spotless and had everything we needed, including a welcome hamper on our arrival which was a lovely touch. It's in a great location, only a short walk into the centre to shops and restuarants. It was a perfect location to have a get together with friends and I would highly recommend it.

Owner's reply: Thank you for being such lovely and considerate guests. It was a pleasure to have you stay. Hope to host you all again in the not too distant future. Kind regards Melanie

“Lovely property in great location”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2015

I stayed at this property with friends during a trip to Chester Races and it was perfect for us. The house is nicely decorated and has quality furnishings throughout. There are 2 double en suite rooms, a twin room and family bathroom. Both lounge and kitchen have small balconies. A real bonus was having the kitchen stocked with tea, coffee, sugar and some other basics(e.g. oil, salt, pepper). There was also fresh milk, bread, butter and even fresh flowers on arrival for us to enjoy. This was all very much appreciated. When I enquired if we could gain access to the house earlier than the usual check in time and leave a little later than planned to work around our train times, Melanie was very accommodating. The location was really good being just a 5 minute walk to the race course and 10 minutes walk into town. We would definitely book to stay here again and have already recommended it to friends.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your feedback. Great to know that you found the house so much to your liking and easy for town and super easy for the race course. Come back soon, you were lovely, considerate guests, thank you. Kind regards Melanie

“Superb house in excellent location for visiting Chester”

We booked this house having read the positive reviews on trip advisor and we were certainly not disappointed. Waters Edge has everything you require for a comfortable and relaxing break and being situated just 10 - 15 minutes walk away from the city centre makes it ideal for eating out and enjoying the beautiful city of Chester. Everything was very clean and extremely tasteful and we would like to thank Melanie for a very happy half-term break! We will most definately return!!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your lovely review. It's a great house for visiting the city and surroundings. Hope to host you again in the not too distant future. Kind regards Melanie

“Immaculate and well presented”

This property's interior is brilliantly executed, a lot of thought has gone into equipment and I couldn’t fault it. Only 15 minutes walk from Chester it’s a central location too. I fully understand why this has many positive reviews.
