Description

The Dairy (sleeps 4 to 6 + cot)

THE DAIRY is a detached 5* cottage directly overlooking beautiful rolling Devon countryside with 2 large super-king bedrooms, both with immaculate en-suite facilities. If required, one of the bedrooms can be configured as 2 or 3 single beds and the lounge also has a good quality settee-bed if needed. (Please let us know your preference when you book). As the name suggests, the Dairy has been converted and now represents a luxurious and characterful holiday destination for our clients within the grounds of the 17th century Redyeates Farm. The Dairy is a certain place for a relaxing time and has plenty to keep the children amused within our 3 acre gardens including our own recently resurfaced all-weather tennis court, table tennis, football, ultra-safe quality trampoline (no springs) and fantastic children's climbing frame. The accommodation is all ground level so it is easy if there are any mobility issues or there are any concerns regarding children

Redyeates Farm is in mid-Devon in one of the best locations for getting to either the north or south coastline and is just 12 miles from either of the National Parks at Exmoor and Dartmoor. Locally there are some very good pubs and restaurants. Taxis and babysitting can easily be arranged in advance. If you like great days out, Redyeates Farm is well placed for easy access to everything that Devon has to offer without having to spend all day in the car. Our changeover day is a Friday. Outside of peak season we can be more flexible and operate a minimum 3 nights on weekends (Fri-Mon) and 4 nights during the week (Mon-Fri). If you require something slightly different, please make contact and we will see if we can accommodate your needs. If you require a slightly larger property (sleeps 8-10) check to see if our Redyeates Barn is available (Property ID 529618).

Location description from owner

The England region

The region is particularly noted for its beautiful rolling Devon countryside and it is a fantastic location for great days out. You have the option of visiting many tourist attractions in the area without having to spend a long time in the car. You also have the option if you want a day at the beach to drive to either of the north or south coastlines with their pretty fishing villages and coves as well as rock pools for the children. Either coastline is around 40 minutes away by car. We are also centrally located between either of the National Parks (Exmoor and Dartmoor) being just 12 miles from either park where there are fantastic walks, riding, fishing or cycling opportunities. If the Cathedral City of Exeter is more your thing, it is about 20 minutes away by car. Here you will find all of the major shops and a huge selection of good places to eat as well as the attractive Exeter quayside.

Bickleigh Mill has an 18th century working water wheel, a woodland, waterside walks and a maze and The Trout is another traditional pub with a beautiful thatched roof. The Mill also has a large shop with gifts, clothing, pottery and crafts and there is an excellent Bistro restaurant and bar open during the day and serving evening meals on certain nights. In each of our cottages we have an information pack full of ideas for great days out and some examples in the surrounding areas include:-Devon Railway Centre – 5 milesYearlstone Vineyard – 5 miles12th Century Tiverton Castle – 7 milesTrout fishery (learn to fish) – 8 milesCathedral City of Exeter – 10 milesExmoor National Park – 12 milesDartmoor National Park – 12 milesQuad Biking at Quad World – 13 milesCrealy Adventure Park – 17 milesNational Trust – Castle Drogo – 17 milesThe Devon Railway CentreGreat for the younger ones (or anyone that likes a ride on a narrow gauge railway) and with an indoor play area, wildlife area and the recently added model village, the Devon Railway centre is a real hit with the kids.Yearlstone VineyardGreat for the older ones (or children interested in how wine is made), Yearlstone Vineyard is just 5 miles (12 minutes) away and is the oldest vineyard in Devon. Its thatched cottages are grouped around a 13th-century church, with the Primrose Tea Rooms to one side and village shop to the other. The rural idyll is completed by the cricket pitch, communal apple orchard and a friendly pub serving real ales and great food.Crealy – Devon's Greatest Adventure ParkThe Park has over 60 rides and attractions set in over 100 acres of glorious Devon countryside. “Relaxing and tranquil place to unwind.”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2015

We stayed in the Dairy with our 2 young boys. The garden was the perfect place for them to run off their energy, look at wildlife and there were plenty of outdoor toys and games to keep them entertained for hours. The Dairy itself was beautifully furnished and equipt. The beds were particularly large and comfortable. There was even a freezer packed full of food which could be bought, saving a trip to the shop. Gary and Louise were very welcoming and helpful even lending us a sat nav to help us find our way around the winding roads of Devon. Despite the other rental property being near by it was extremely quiet and we rarely saw them. I would thoroughly recommend this property as an excellent place to explore Devon.

Three days just wasn't long enough in this idyllic setting. At Dairy Cottage, every need was anticipated and provided for - the accommodation is tasteful, spacious and extremely comfortable. Our hosts gave us the best welcome I have ever received at a rented property and I can't wait to return - for a l longer visit next time!

“5 star accommodation!!”

“Idyllic”

Wonderfully cosy, spacious and tastefully furnished accommodation with great attention to detail, and a lovely welcome pack with essentials. The farm is located in a spectacular location with panoramic views of both Exmoor and Dartmoor, and for anyone looking for peace and quiet in the heart of beautiful Devon countryside, this place fitted the bill perfectly! Both Bickleigh and Tiverton were a short drive away along scenic routes, and there are other small villages nearby, each with traditional pubs serving delicious reasonably priced food. Can't wait to return soon!
