Description

Living room with wood-burning stove, French doors to garden and tiled floor/dining room with kitchen area. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft 6in bed. Further double bedroom with additional single bed (for alternative sleeping only). Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. The first floor has high ceilings, exposed beams and retains a number of original pigeon holes.

NB. £20 supplement per pet per week

Please note that during the summer holidays the minimum stay is listed as 7 nights. However, please ask if you would like a shorter stay as we may be able to accommodate this.

The property is within easy distance of Cheltenham (6 miles), Tewkesbury (3 miles), Gloucester (8 miles), Ledbury (16 miles) and a good location for exploring the Cotswolds and the Forest of Dean. There are good walking routes locally and there are several pubs providing good food within a 10-minute drive. Shop and pub 1 and 3/4 mile.

“Super little cottage”

Positives: Characterful property Lots of Attention to detail Free wi-fi Ideal location Well equipped holiday rental Very clean Tasty Victoria sponge cake awaited us on arrival Helen (owner) extremely helpful & polite Negatives: Unfortunately poor mattress quality in master bedroom (felt like coil sprung, every time I turned over I felt the springs and had them piercing my body). I presume the owners have not road tested the bed (otherwise they would have changed it). To me the bed is an important part of the stay, and unfortunately I did not sleep well. I did not bring this to the owners' attention as I felt they could not have changed the mattress during our short stay.

“Perfect place for a family reunion”

My husband and I spent a week at the Dovecote, catching up with family. The cottage was perfect for this, charming, spacious and well equipped (so we could cook family dinners) and in such a deligtful spot. It is in the country, very quiet, but within easy reach by car of Tewkesbury and Gloucester and places in the Cotswolds.

Stayed here for my 50th Birthday. Lovely pond on back with ducks and other wildlife. Owner was very nice and even left us a delicious cake! Place was immaculate and the dovecotes in the bedrooms and bathrooms were unique and charming. Great to have dishwasher and washing machine! All in all a memorable stay. Highly recommend!

“Countryside relaxation”

The dovecote, an ornate country retreat which is just that bit special. Small picturesque lake, ducks & comfortable accommodation made this stay ideal. Our host was most welcoming & even baked us a cake. Directions given to the property and basics of tea, coffee etc provided as well as all bed linen and towels. Cheltenham is only a 15 minute drive away.

We booked this as a surprise for my moms 60th birthday and she utterly adored it. It's tranquil and beautiful yet a few minutes drive to bustling cities. The cake was delicious, the house was just gorgeous and Helen was super lovely. We will definitely be coming to stay again!

“Beautiful and peaceful stay”

An incredible weekend with two girls and a toddler. Cheltenham was a short drive away where we went for Christmas market. The view from the house over the lake was beautiful with the location of the house making it a peaceful stay. The house was an imaginative build with a lot of the original structure intact. The landlord was helpful, welcoming and kind; we could have stayed there a lot longer!

The Dovecote was the perfect weekend stay. We stayed here with the idea of exploring the Cotswolds but loved the cottage and the setting (not to mention the lovely cake waiting for us on the kitchen table) so much that we decided instead to relax at the cottage most of the weekend! The cottage was also very well equipped - the owner really thought of everything.

Stayed at the Dovecot with my husband and 1 year old daughter. The property itself is beautiful - full of character and very well furnished. The location too is fantastic, right on a duck pond (safely fenced off for little ones) which my daughter loved. The property is a separate building on the owners farm (far away enough from the main building for privacy) - there are horses on the farm which in the evening came up close to the property (still fenced off though) which was lovely. We felt very well looked after by the owners - plenty of information on local attractions was provided, and best of all, a home made chocolate cake waiting for us when we arrived! Having forgotten our high chair, the owner lent us her own which was much appreciated. Location wise - we had a car, which was necessary for what we wanted to do - although I think there were probably plenty of walks in the area. We visited Tewkesbury which was VERY close), Cheltenham, Stow-on-the Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water all very easily from our base. Would definitely stay here again - and probably for a longer period of time.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
