Our cottage is 5 minutes walk to the local bar/restaurant and local village shop for all those essentials including that very important fresh French baguette. There are also many other French restaurants in the area. Quiet and peaceful yet only 20 minutes to the nearest town of Tarbes with its weekly Thursday market or the nearest supermarket, also smaller towns in the surrounding area has the benefit of many other attractions
The cottage is an ideal retreat for artists as the scenery is breathtaking. It would also be suitable for a budding writer. The area is also fantastic for cycling and walking enthusiasts

The Midi-Pyrénées region
The surrounding areas of Cabanac, Trie sur baise, Tournay and Semeac have lots of typical French restaurants serving excellent food. The well known pilgrimage town of Lourdes is just 40 minutes drive and is well worth a visit, while only 30 minutes away is the market town of Marciac which has the famous Jazz Festival in August which I can highly recommend. This area is also renowned for The Tour de France which passes close by every year in July.Tarbes is the closest town for shopping or restaurants and is only 20 minutes away. The winter months are ideal for Skiing as La Mongie, Bareges, Luchon or St Lary are only 30-40 minutes away also for the non skiers a trip to the Pic de Midi via cable car is a good day out
Average temperature can reach 40 degrees in the Summer and the Winters are usually very mild.

Le Tour will pass through the village on 8th July 2016
This quaint village of Chelle debat lies within easy distance of a variety of shops and restaurants and has its own bar/ restaurant within a 5 minute leisurely walk with a shop attached for everyday groceries. The village itself has a church with a village hall which hosts theatre evenings plus a post office and hairdressers. This area is ideal for walking/cycling/horse riding/golf. There is a local farmers market in close by Tarbes on a Thursday which offers an enormous variety of goods and many bargains. Tarbes comes alive at night with many alfresco restaurants and cafes. Tarbes also has lots of familiar places to eat, McDonalds and KFC.
Laslades has a magnificent lake with a picnic area and cafe open in summer months nature trails around the lake and watersports which is only 5 minutes drive away.
